Lows prices and high quality food. The freezer jam is an absolute must! I personally love the strawberry the best. Best deal for breakfast in Kalamazoo

Two words. Freezer jam. And they DO sell it.

We have visited East Egg many times over the last 8 years or so. Over time we have noticed a marked decrease in quality, all around. On our most recent visit (October 2019) we were the most disappointed. The portion sizes seem to have decreased, while the prices have gone up! Breakfast is served on child sized, colored plates with a fine layer of grease to coat. I would say they use a good bit of a vegetable type oil to cover their breakfast griddle when cooking. This method is not new, but something folks would want to know ahead of time. The two of us ordered the breakfast hash and a coffee each and the bill totaled $25, before tip. Steep for a kid sized plate of greasy hash. The redeeming quality of our meal would be the homemade toast options with the choice of freezer jams! We received one slice of sourdough toast with our order. The Strawberry freezer jam is delicious! Our waitress was very kind, happy, and smiley, but not super attentive. We received only one coffee refill during our time, when our order came, but had empty cups while we waited for our meals and after our meal was complete. $2.25 for a cup of coffee. There were about four tables of people (two people at each table) with two waitresses working at the time. The atmosphere is dingy, (it's an old Wendy's that is very run down, even more outside with large potholes in the parking lot and very dirty exterior.) with a general unclean feeling. There are other East Egg locations in town with a cleaner building. Kalamazoo is known for a lot of really great breakfast choices!! Yelp can help you find one!!

Great food, great vibe, all made possible by the great staff. This is our go-to breakfast restaurant.

Good pancakes, and fruit & granola. The eggs were okay according to my partner. He said the eggs were not cooked the way he wanted. Eggs are their specialty. The restaurant was well laid out and clean. The menu was fairly condensed. That was nice not an overwhelming number of choices.

A very diner-style vibe eating establishment. I enjoyed the dish I was able to have, but the menu is very pork-based. So if you have dietary restrictions against eating swine, it may not be the best place to go. The waitstaff was friendly, albeit somewhat conversationally absent, and the food was served quickly. I enjoyed it.
