Im here from Chicago. My boyfriend took me here green top tavern last summer we got Hamburger, italiana , fries so delicious. Asked him to come back here lol. My 2 times. BLT & roast beef sandwich delicious. All staffs friendly. Definitely will come again 🙏🏼

A nice hole in the wall, yet still respectable tavern. Sitting in the window is fun, and you can people watch that way. The burgers are good, fries are good. The music got louder at dusk, which was a little disconcerting, but it is a bar, so... I enjoy this place regardless, and its good for a quick bite. Or settle in and nurse a beer. Either or. Staff is friendly and quick. No complaints at all, other than the random cranking up of the volume.

I ordered a olive burger, took it back in the Styrofoam package since there wasnt any olives on. The bartender told me that it was on the bottom, i looked under the burger patty and I found it.... The olive....
Been coming here for many (and many) years and it’s still my favorite local place to visit because of its atmosphere. It used to be a super hidden gem but now even the college kids come weekends after 9p. Customers and staff are friendly making it home-like dive bar atmosphere. While there are a few restaurants on Michigan Ave that serve Beats on Bates (Wednesday evenings all summer in the alley outback - open, bright space truely), Green Top is the main bar working their asses off to make the evening always great for everyone. Credit to all the bands each week, as well!
Green Top's formula is pretty simple: be kind and cool, no BS, food and drinks always served right up.

Total hole-in-the-wall vibe—in the best way! Definitely not a posh or fancy spot, but that’s part of the charm. You’ll find a really diverse crowd, which makes for a fun and laid-back atmosphere. Drinks are priced fairly, and the food is great—definitely worth trying if you stop by!
