My family and I truly enjoyed our meals from House of Soul! The catfish was fried perfectly, crispy, seasoned just right, and full of flavor. The vegetables and sides were also delicious, well-seasoned, and served in generous portions. The prices were very reasonable, and the to-go packaging was neatly done and easy for travel. We will definitely be ordering from House of Soul again, thank you for a great experience!

The catfish was great, crispy, but not dried out. Green beans were on point. Collard Greens could have used a bit more salt. Jerk Chicken was definitely good, but a bit wet. Customer service was great. I will definitely come back when I am in Kalamazoo again.

The catfish here is the best in town hands down I only know one other place with catfish like this and it’s no where near Kalamazoo also the workers are great one actually helped me get into my car when I was locked out and needed help and everyone there is always friendly y'all gotta get there ASAP this that REAL SOUL FOOD

Ate at House of Soul Seafood. My seafood boil was good, but her sausages were burnt and hard. She shouldn't have put those in my boil or remade them. My husband got the perch meal and he said his fish was not fresh and cooked to hard, the Mac and cheese he didn't like or the cornbread which he thinks was Jiffy. Only thing he liked was the green beans. He says she heated his food up in the Styrofoam container because when he lifted up his container it had holes in the bottom, but only under the mac. That is why everything was dry and hard. Wanted to give them another chance, but my husband is saying no he doesn't want to go back. Not good!!

Food was probably good when they prepared it 2 weeks ago. Showed up around 11 pm, they close at 2 am. Ordered 2 dinners to go based on photos and reviews on-line. I got the shrimp dinner and my husband ordered jerk chicken dinner. First, the food was lukewarm. The shrimp tasted like they poured it out the bag and microwaved it with butter ( picture showed fried) My fault for not asking. The jerk chicken had so much jerk rub on it, you couldn’t eat it ( too salty). The Mac n cheese was okay but it tasted old, like it was in the fridge for weeks. The only thing worth eating was the baked beans which tasted like Bush baked beans out the can which isn’t bad. Overall, very disappointed. Would give a negative star if it was possible. Wished I would’ve asked for my money back but I didn’t want the hassle. NEVER AGAIN!

I hate to write negative reviews but I had to write this time as this is one of the worst jerk chickens I have ever had. 25 dollars for the large dinner for 5 small pieces. The sauce tasted bitter and burnt. Horrendous flavor.

Restaurant was not well set up . Not the cleanest looking imo. Waited for a long time with no acknowledgement that I was a customer. Didn’t look like they needed me to patronize. The food was good though.

Waited one hour, got crab boil and shrimp boil. The butter was nasty taste like movie theater butter, too much lemon flavor, shrimp taste like it has been frozen, sausages were salty, egg was cold potatoes where okay, corn wand green beans were good tho overall 4.8 out of 10 wouldn’t ever go here again.

The food was fabulous! They're sharing a space with another restaurant so if you want to find them look for the hot wings sign. Food was very southern, homestyle not Caribbean inspired. But tasty.

My mom and I had to call the owner here at House of Soul Seafood restaurant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He's very friendly and also very generous with his portions of food that he gives to each of his customers. The ribs are really smoked as well as the the BBQ chicken thighs and legs too. Amazing cornbread, with fried chicken that we really recommend to first time customer's visiting Go and check this place out, if you enjoy some delicious soul food with bbq and tell Eddie DJ sent ya!
