Jacob our waiter was the worst. Although we were visiting and very tired he acted as if we couldn't afford our dinner or had no right being here eating. We tip according to all above so if tip reflects that so be it. We will be back the fodd us delicious and the atmosphere is quaint. A bit loud but nice. Next time make sure you treat all as equals when in the service industry.

Absolutely the best mushroom soup I have ever had. The flourless chocolate cake is amazing too.

It's lovely to be back in Kalamazoo visiting the family, and it's comforting to see the food here is just as delightful as it used to be! That said, the service was a bit on the slow side, especially considering the rather steep prices these days.
This was my third time at Martells and per usual, the mushroom soup was AMAZING. However, this was the first time I ordered the risotto and was extremely disappointed… it was extremely bland and tasted like a bowl of plane white rice. Someone else at our table also got the risotto and it was completely cold. :(

Good food with lots of choices. Our wait between drinks, appetizers and entree was a little longer than I would have liked. However it was a busy Friday night.

My wife had her class reunion here. It was SOOO LOUD!! They need to install sound deadening panels. Couldn't hardly hear the person next to us.
Food was good. We had steak and salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I've had better, but it was good. Ice cream and brownie for desert was also good.
Service was slow. Food was a long time in coming. Was delay after salad before main dish too.
I would not recommend this for any kind of meeting. Is probably good for just a night out for two or four, but not for a larger group.

This is a hidden Kalamazoo gem near a scenic pond that is perfect for a romantic getaway. The service and food were excellent. The carpaccio is mouth watering, the beet salad is refreshing and the orecchiette was seasoned perfectly. Definitely will come back for another memorable meal!
I wanted to take my husband out for a special occasion. I had planned this for some time. We arrived to find a sign on the door saying the place was completely closed today for a 'private event'. No where was this mentioned - not on Google (owners can do updates ) not on their website. This is extremely rude. We stayed in the parking lot for awhile looking for another place to go and saw car after car come in, read the sign and leave. You lost many customers today and due to your lack of care for the general public. By not posting this at least a week in advance you've lost some of these customers permanently. I hope your private event was worth it.
Very nice place for the price the food was perfect. Just wish they had a blackened chicken Alfredo dinner.

Had a great experience here! The ambience was lovely, and the overall vibe made for an enjoyable visit. As a vegetarian, I was happy to find a few standout options on the menu. I asked for the crispy Brussels sprouts to be made vegetarian, and they turned out pretty good. The star of the meal, though, was the risotto—absolutely delicious and easily my favorite!
I have been going to Martelles as a regular for over 2 years now and I’ve always loved my experience with the dinning in the garden outdoors. However, the manager Kate was extremely rude. I have always been able to make small modifications to the pizzas and I was requesting at the time to Lindsey who was amazing and gave customer service the request of a modification. The manager Kate interrupted my order and stated that there is no modifications allowed with the pizzas. From my understanding, the company is a “yestaurant” and she was the opposite of saying yes or including a simple modification. Kate not only was rude to us as customers but also dressed unprofessionally. She was wearing a bright pink jumpsuit and a white t-shirt. Being in management myself, dressing professional is a priority by making sure you present yourself well for your company. Megan was an amazing food runner and had great customer service along with the bartender Lindsey! I am however disappointed in the leadership above them that is supposed to be the one to say yes to the customer for a simple modification.
Martell’s has a wide array of options, however I came here to highlight the mushroom soup. All I want is SOUP! 🤩 It’s neat that they utilize West Michigan Pasta & Provision’s in their pasta entrees, as this man is often at the farmers market - bonus points for emphasizing sustainable sourcing! 🧑🍳 Proud to support this long standing establishment. 🥰
Service was great, food was very good. Drinks are a little expensive. Not a cheap place to go
