First time visiting tonight. Went with some of my family ❤️. Customer service was awesome. Had a reservation for a party of seven. Was seated fast . Waitress was very attentive. The food was served hot and it was delicious. They have vegetarian options. I had vegi fried rice. One of the other family members tried the fire cracker shrimp and said it was good. Worth going back.

I’ve been privileged to eat at Maru six times and each time I walked away swooning. Literally everything is delectable; their ginger dressing, salads, crab rangoon dip, blueberry lemonade, cheesecake, creme brûlée, regular rolls, and specialty rolls (especially the Crouching Tiger) - even the most basic of all sushi restaurant side dishes - veggie fried rice - is phenomenal.
The restaurant atmosphere is cozy and warm and the staff are helpful and friendly. This is my number one go-to dining experience, especially for anniversary and birthday dinners.
Wonderful sushi restaurant in Downtown Kalamazoo. The location is in a growing part of the city. The staff and food were very good!
The quality was exceptional for the price! Would definitely recommend for a date night or nice meal!

My husband and I used to eat at the Maru in Lansing when we were dating so the restaurant holds a little nostalgia for us. We moved away from the area and hadn't been in over 7 years. We dreamt about the papa crema roll and when we could get it again. Finally, we were close enough to the Kalamazoo location to finally stop in and fulfill a craving. We were disappointed to see the portion size smaller than we remembered it. The service was also so incredibly slow which was agonizing with 2 small children that we were trying to keep occupied. We got there right at 5p and there were only a handful of tables but we waited 45 minutes for our food. My husband watched his beer sit on the bar counter for quite awhile before the waiter brought it and then after he finished it, he never asked him if he wanted another. The sushi was good but we were quite let down with the service.

I’ve came here twice. Both times sushi was decent but i have had better. Waiters were nice but service was extremely slow. We waited 1.5 hours (on a Monday) for 4 rolls of sushi. Only 1 of those rolls was a speciality roll the others were basic. Some of the basic rolls were falling apart. Not impressed, probably won’t go back.

They did not steer me wrong.

I had options, but I chose this establishment. They didn't disappoint. The establishment was clean, which is always a good look. The food was awesome, the sushi was fresh, everything I ordered was fresh as if it was just pulled from the water and prepared.if your trying to determine which sushi place to go to, this is the one. I made the right choice, so im helping you make the same. O, I almost forgot the Maru rice a must try...delicious I definitely recommend this establishment if you're in the area and have a taste for some sushi.
