Awesome experience, greeted as soon as you walk in and can watch them make the sushi. The food was delicious, prices may seem a little high 15 dollars for Ramen but man do you get a lot. Definitely a place to go.Kid-friendliness: They have items for kids.

Update: It was a bad experience on 02/13, but the owner Jin couldn’t have handled it better. I cannot express how phenomenal the experience was after the owner reached out to rectify our concerns after our initial visit. He covered our dinner and even provided dessert!! I am so blown away. Thank you for exceeding my expectations and also making my bday dinner tonight that much better. Our server Ryan tonight was 1000000/10 stars - AMAZING! Not only that, both servers were attentive. Thank you Toba owner Jin, and server Ryan for making up for the other night. Cannot recommend Toba more!! Thank you ?UPDATE: TOBA reached out to rectify the review. We will be going back, thank you Toba!We were JUST seated about 20 minutes ago, ignored so we walked out. After we were seated, the server said they would bring us water. They didn’t end up bringing water or even acknowledging us again. I understand you’re busy, it’s the day before Valentines Day. But maybe don’t seat people? This isn’t the even worst part. There were only 2 servers who continued to serve everyone around us. At one point, one of the servers gave another table water. (We never got ours). Worst part: As we were walking out, the server (who didn’t seat us) asked if everything was alright. And then the chefs thanked us for coming in and said bye.I came here last month with a friend from out of town, and the service was excellent and food was top notch. This left a bad taste in my mouth because I love Toba’s sushi.

Best Ramen in the city. My party of 3 all thought their food was it was incredible. Recommend the appetizer that has the mushroom and cream cheese.

Traveling from out of town and found this gem- I tried the Toba Ramen and the Crunch Bomb Roll. Both were outstanding! Service was also excellent. Definitely try this spot!

Not the place to get sushi. ? If you have high sushi expectations, this is not the place. I had to spit it out because the fish tasted old and very oceany and I ordered in a Friday night - shouldn't it be the most fresh on a Friday? The fish in the rolls was cut up like it came pre-cut.They also did a bad job with packaging. The ramen bowl was in paper container - most of the broth leaked out and was in the bag.I love to support downtown but this was a bust ?

The takoyaki is pretty good. I also have had one of the sushi wraps, and while moderately tasty, it's not designed to be eaten by a normal person! I struggled with my wrap, only ever getting half a bite of the presented "roll" - meaning I only ever got half the flavor in my mouth at the same time. I'll order something smaller next time.

We love both Tobas. They each have their own ambience and different food selections. Downtown has amazing Ramen and Drake Road has more of an emphasis on Sushi Burritos. You can never go wrong with either location.

Their ramen egg is FA-BU-LOUS! Perfect jammy yolk and sweetness/saltiness! Texture is on-point. Their RAMEN IS RICH! Like stomach-hurtingly rich but so dang good! Noodles are on fleek for it.Rolls are also on point; not overfilled with rice (thank goodness). Takoyaki was also on point! but also, GET THEIR FRIED RICE (any of them - we did kimchi fried rice & bulgogi fried rice, two different times) and OMFG THE FRIED RICE IS ALSO ON POINT! none of that, overly oiled and oxidized flavor!Agedashi tofu could be a bit different; tastes more like Hayako tofu (without the full flavor) so kinda meh~They don't do chili oil or chili sauce (except sriracha) b/c, as server shared, owner doesn't want it to be traditional-like.Parking: Gotta find that street parking. Maybe consider parking on Rose St. and walking around the block

I was in town for work and found Toba. Just as an fyi, there are two locations. I went to the one in downtown Kalamazoo since they also serve ramen here. The service was great and a chill atmosphere. Plenty of seating inside. The food was really good here! I got the Toba Ramen. I know from the picture the broth looks very foam for whatever reason, but the ramen tasted excellent. I got two eggs and they were cooked perfectly if you like that runny middle. The two pieces of chasu could have been better though. Really liked the mushrooms in it! I also got the Yum Yum Yum roll. I liked this better than the ramen and would highly recommend getting it when you come here to eat. Great balance between savory and sweet and umami flavor.

Great sushi, my date loved the ramen. Service was excellent! Small place, got there at 2:00 pm and only 2 tables were available, so make sure to go off times if you want a table without the wait.

Went in for lunch with my daughter and it was PACKED. Cameron greeted us and made sure we knew we would be taken care of. He took us to the ramen bar to sit comfortably while we waited for our table. He made sure we got everything we needed, and even boxed up my food and bagged it because I was afraid to spill. Just great service, and amazing food, all around. My 7 year old and I will go back again and again.
