Food was good only reason for the low rate is the customer service. Waited in line for a while before a worker acknowledged us at the counter. He went to take our order but another worker basically yelled at him for going up. She basically told him and scolded him for not helping in packing orders assume they were pick up but still don’t do that in front of customers. Then another guy came up and took our order but overall not a comfortable setting to be in.

There was a 45 min wait and 15 people standing in in line for their food. I have never ever ever encountered such a crap show.

Whoever those were that were working Saturday October 26 @ 5pm/6pm should be fired. They were laughing and socializing while 15 people waited and watched.

We as well as 10 other people just left after waiting 15 min watching this circus.

We used City BBQ for our catering for our Wedding on 10.19.24. We cannot say enough how good the food was. The professionalism of the staff was by far the best. Staff were Kind, efficient, friendly. Working with the Coordinator for the Kentwood area - was easy, efficient and professional and organized. We had the opportunity to work with several vendors during our planning and Amanda was the easiest and most professional to work with. The staff that worked the wedding were professional and efficient. This company I would recommend based on just those factors. Add the exceptional food and the very reasonable prices. Worth every penny. Every guest remarked on how good the chicken and beef were - too where they were asking for the number to the company. We will be using their services in the future. We were so blessed to have connected with this company made the wedding reception exceptional. It is all about the food. Best decision ever and so lucky we found City BBQ. Todd and Lisa Spaans

After sampling BBQ at several restaurants for our wedding, we chose City Barbecue due to the food quality, multitude of options, and how amazing it was to work with Amanda. Amanda's knowledge of catering was well above the competition.

The day of the wedding, the food was served hot and so many guests told us it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. (Myself included)

Can't say enough positive things about City Barbecue.

The barbecue here is legit. The dirty bird sandwich is also delicious. Loved the fries!

The girl running the register displayed terrible customer service. She definitely does not like working here, nor did she seem to care about anyone who walked in the door. I could break this down further but I don't have 5 hours to explain how utterly disgusting this person treated other people. My order was wrong and my hubs went up to have it fixed. He is the sweetest, easiest person to get along with. He came back to the table so upset he wouldn't even tell me how that interaction went down because he didn't want it to "ruin his day". ?

The whole atmosphere was so blase but also chaotic? ? The staff up front were doing their best, but with no urgency or efficiency. One lady left cussing under her breath because she was upset that her order took forever although she had ordered before coming into the restaurant. It should have been ready to go when she walked in.

After receiving our order for the second time, we asked if there were 2 corn breads which we were quickly reassured that yes, there were 2. Got home to one corn bread in the bag. ? Again, order was incorrect. I would avoid this place unless you're cool with rude cashiers and incorrect orders!

Where do I start? This was our first visit. There were guests waiting for their food, but no one in front of or behind us. We took a few minutes to look over the menu. We were never greeted or acknowledged. A young man eventually walked over and stood behind the register. Never said “Hello” or “What can I get you ?”. Nope. Just stood there. So I said “Hello” and he just looked at me. Okay cool. I ordered naked pulled chicken and fries and a drink. He said “we are sold out of fries.” Okay- no fries then. He handed me a cup and the other two people in my party ordered. We waited for 10 minutes. There were other guests waiting for their items as well and they all looked pretty annoyed. The gal cutting the meats was on it. She was running out of space as the prepped orders piled up. Before you start thinking that places are short-staffed, let me assure you that this place is NOT short-staffed. The issue is management. There were at least four people that would walk by, look at the receipt on the tray and walk away. The items were ready, but there was no direction. No one seemed to have a role or responsibility.
Let’s chat about the beverage station/ sauce area. Hadn’t been touched in hours. No forks or knives available. Sauces dripped all over the counter. Not fun.
So after what felt like too long… we finally were handed our food. I use my spoon to dig into my pulled chicken and hmmmm that’s not chicken- that’s definitely pulled pork. (Huge Sigh). My option is to eat this or wait another questionable amount of time. So I ate it. It had great flavor, but half of my portion was fat. Why didn’t I ask for a manager? That definitely would be a waste of time, clearly no one was in charge here.
Sorry City Barbecue, we won’t be back.

Food is dynamite and the restaurant is usually clean and comfortable. But I can't recall a time where the service wasn't slow.

I was charged $42 for a thimble full of shredded pork and a couple of coins of dry lifeless brisket and turkey. Please do not support this business. It is an absolute SCAM!!!!! I so wanted to love this place as they’ve opened a franchise close to my home. Do not do it!!!!!! If you know bbq…. This ain’t close to an excuse for bbq and their portions are offensive.

First time here and the gentleman behind the register was rude, so apparently I read the menu wrong, even after asking for assistance. the guy was clearly irritated. Long story short it was expensive and mediocre.

We like the place but the brisket sometimes is hard, seems like the cooking time needs a longer smoke time
