I was looking for an Asian restaurant in this area, and came upon Umi Sushi on Google maps. When I drove up to the building, it looked out of date... But don't judge a book by its cover! This place was lovely on the inside. Very open, and had rather zen decor and atmosphere. We also enjoyed the TVs displaying food items from their menu (what a great idea to get customers hungry, haha! It worked)Our waitress, Zippora, was wonderful!! She was very personable yet professional, and asked us at least twice while eating the meal, once during dessert how everything was. Granted, on a Sunday afternoon it wasn't too busy, but she had plenty of things to do and still did an excellent job attending to us.I mentioned before ordering that I had a gluten intolerance, and right away Zippora said she would be certain whatever I ordered would be made gluten free. She brought me GF soy sauce without me even asking! I haven't received such understanding from a waitress concerning allergies like this very often!(10/10 recommend the Bumblebee roll and the mango ice cream mochi. )Overall a fantastic experience, I look forward to a return trip!

Well where to start ? this place is Amazing ? ? the Atmosphere the Employees just so different from other restaurants in a positive way. I've picked up over 20 orders from this restaurants and still didn't find the time to go Dine-In but just by being there for a few minutes waiting on the pickup I observed the Restaurant I wish I could give it 10000 stars ? Can't wait to try the food here ?.Keep up the great work ?

Umi had a lovely atmosphere, great service, and great food overall. Compared to other sushi restaurants I have been to, they did not charge extra for side sauces. Their tempura rolls were warm when presented, which is always a great plus. I was a little bit disappointed with my salmon tempura roll as I am used to having it more simple without many additions, but the pros definitely out shine the cons. This one of the top sushi restaurants I have been to thus far in the grand rapids area.
Delicious and great service. Definitely go here for hibachi and sushi with groups.

Really liked the bento boxes for lunch! Plenty of food for $14. Would like to come back and try the sake flight and some hibachi. The California roll was yummy as well, the seaweed wrap wasn’t fishy at all.
