MY FAVORITE ice cream shop in MICHIGAN. MADE on SITE!! If you like WATER BASED frozen (sherbet-sorbet?) and/or are FRUIT oriented, then THIS IS IT!!!
DETAILS: They have at least 6 to 8 water based choices? which are FANTASTIC. My favorites are GUAVA and MANGO. These taste like you have a grandparent who has been doing this their whole life got fresh fruit and just made it for you!! I think one scoop is 3 or 3.50 so, but it is big. and two BIG scoops are 4.50,(June 2024). In the Milky Section I have had strawberry and some coconut based one, both great as well. Total of about 14 flavours at any one time, which is concise enough. They always have a vanilla and strawberry, as well as something with chocolate. But the Water based section is unique and thrilling!!
The QUALITY is superb. They also have a full popsicle section too. This is the best FRUITY WATER BASED FROZEN TREAT in LANSING, if not MICHIGAN that i know of. I get Mango on Bottom, Guava on top. Great Combo. I think everything but the popsicles are made on site?
PROBLEM: The problem with this place is that, 10 minutes after you finish you want to make another order. I make sure to go far away by the time i finish the cup.
LOCATION: They have a covered bench in front. Also a few seats inside. the Supermarket(excellent tacos and baked sweetgoods to go) which this adjoins has a large yard to the north which has 3 or 4 large benches too partially shaded!!

Got here 15 minutes before the shop closed, the lady whose working was sweeping the floor. After giving us a few minutes to look at what we want to order she came and took our orders. Instead of washing her hands first she immediately went and start making our drinks. I was disgusted!! There was also a pile of trash bags on the side that she collected. 2/5 stars because of unsanitary it is
Amazing drinks and snacks
I love this place
Simply delicious!
La Michoacana is a must-visit for those who love ice cream and Mexican snacks. Their in-store made ice cream is delicious and their popsicles, made with real fruit, are a refreshing treat. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. From ice cream to classic Mexican snacks, there is something for everyone at La Michoacana
The mangonada was good.

So good! I got a variety of paletas to try. Can’t wait to try the antojitos next time!
What a great first experience. My family and I tried a little of everything (coffee ice cream, strawberries and cream ice cream, cookies and cream ice cream, strawberry cheesecake ice cream, vanilla ice cream, pepinos locos and paleta de mango con chile y paleta de sandía) and there was no disappointment. We went a little over board but it was well worth it. My husband said that they have the best ice cream (which is true, hands down). It’s way better than cold stone! Every time I eat cold stone I get thirsty because it’s too sweet but it was not the case with Ay Güey La Michoacana’s ice cream. You must give this place a try, I promise that you will not be disappointed.
This is a nice little market, but the butcher counter and taqueria in the back are superb. In an effort to try a little of everything, I ordered a bunch of different tacos - al pastor, carnitas, pollo, lengua & chicharrones with salsa verde. I even tried the fried tacos. Everything was excellent. They’re busy, but it is worth the wait. The taqueria is in the back. You write down your order; they make it on the spot; and you pay up front. I will definitely get back there every time I am in town.
