Food was cold and looked old, server was ready to go for the day and I can see why they have a “no refund” policy

Two of us shared 1/2 Topopo Salad. It was excellent, piled high with all its goodies (lettuce, chicken, peas, guacamole) on a bed of bean & cheese nachos. It was just the right size for two women’s lunch with no leftovers! Note: leftover Topopo isn’t really what you want later.

Food was horrible, microwave burned. My margarita came in a normal glass without any taste of alcohol. Was more like a smoothie. Much better Mexican food in Lansing. We won’t be back.

We have always enjoyed El Az. Gone here for many years, but quality, service, and cleanliness has just gone down hill. Was not very busy, but still took us 40 minutes to get out food. We both had burrito plates, and the filling was not very warm. People next to us had waited a long time, and complained to waitress. Waitress bit their head off, basically told her nothing she can do about it. No refills until our food came, and never saw waitress again until we were due the check.

What a joke! My husband ordered chicken burritos and they came out cold (were they premade??) He sent them back - they MICROWAVED the plate and gave it back to him. I’m not sure that’s even legal? (Sanitation, bringing an eaten off plate back to the kitchen) Besides being cold, the chicken was clearly boiled. No flavor. No hot sauce in sight. We will not be back.

O love their salsa but the chips had no salt and were stale. Taco Tuesday so I ordered the taco plate. The rice and beans were delicious. The tacos were not what I expected. Not fresh and not steaming hot.

Here with a friend for late lunch. I got the dry chimichanga with guacamole and my friend ordered the 3 soft tacos. Outdoor seating was pleasant and our waitress was in good spirits. I’ve only had frozen chimichangas and wet ones so this was a pleasant surprise. Friend said his food was immaculate.

I used to go to El Azteco in the 70's and 80's in East Lansing. That is under new ownership with a different feel than what we loved years ago. This West side El Azteco is the better one if the two. The Waitress was great. The kitchen staff was very accommodating

I have had many good experiences with this restaurant since the mid 80's. The food has always been top notch and Delicious every time I have visited. The staff is super nice and very helpful to describe a few dishes that I had questions about because I like to try new things. I find the green salsa verde extremely delicious with just the right amount of kick. I've never walked out disappointed.
They have very reasonable prices and I highly recommend that you try it out for yourself because tasting it for yourself is the only way to discover the wonderful cuisine served here.
I would say that it's usually $10-$20 per person maybe more if you're dining in and have a few drinks (They do serve alcohol as well)
5 Stars for sure.

This place isn't much to look at, but when it comes to food they never disappoint!! I have been coming here since 1981~ish when I lived in the neighborhood on Butler St. I no longer live in MI, but every time I visit I try to make this a stop!! 🌮🌮🌮

Best Mexican food in the USA, as far as my opinion. Love the staff, always. Coming here since 1987.
