This place is legit…YOU NEED TO GO THERE! THE VIBE DRINKS AND SERVICE ARE GREAT!!!!! Will becoming back to try the snapper FOR REAL!
Food was incredible, cocktails were unique and delicious. We will be back!
Delicious!
We happened upon this restaurant by accident and, oh boy, I'm so glad we did! It's has a cozy and colorful atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly, and the aromas in the air made our mouths water. There was no wait for seating, and our dishes came out pretty quickly. I ordered Jerk Chicken, and my partner ordered a goat dish. The chicken was falling off the bone and blowing my mind 🤯. It was honestly one of the best dishes I've ordered since... well, years, probably. I was skeptical of the goat, but it smelled so good that I had to try it. Holy wow, it was amazing.
I highly recommend this place. It's an example of the types of gems we need in the Lansing area. If you want something unique and delicious, check out Jollof.
Had the jerk chicken and goat with Jollof. Chef kiss 🤌🏾👌🏾it’s was delicious 🤤
Great restaurant. Friendly service, great food. The red snapper was delicious, and I ordered Egusi and Fufu to go and enjoyed that as well. This may be my spot to visit when I'm in Lansing.
As soon as you walk in, you can sense the welcoming atmosphere and smell the delicious food cooking. There are a variety of seating options, from standard dining tables to more comfortable lounge style seating, and a nice bar area. It really mixes the chill lounge and dining vibes well.
Specials will be listed on a board behind the bar, toward the left if you are facing the bar.
Food was excellent. We had pepper chicken and a whole red snapper. They were both accompanied by generous portions of the signature rice, which we found mild and cooked perfectly. The fish in particular had a delicious, very flavorful sauce that was well received. Should also mention we got to try the fried plantains and the meat pie. Both were outstanding.
The staff were all very friendly, and you are likely to meet the owner. If you're not sure what to order just talk to the folks here and they will help.
Bar is well stocked and they have some impressive house cocktails to try (check the specials board if you're looking for a deal).
Plenty of street parking on Washington and nearby. They are open pretty late, it's a great addition to the downtown scene. A great place to stop by for a meal, a snack, or even just a drink when you are downtown.
Food was so great and Lo was an amazing server!!
Great spot with Afro-Caribbean roots, lovely interior, and delicious food. Those who can't handle heat, keep extra plantains nearby. Can't wait to go back!

I came in for some food to take home and ended up staying for the incredible experience. This new African-Caribbean fusion restaurant is a breath of fresh air — rich in flavor, culture, and warmth. I got the ox tails and the flavor was on point!!! Bold, soulful, and clearly crafted with love. You can taste the roots and the creativity in every bite. What made the visit even more memorable was getting the chance to chat with the owner and chef, Sean. His passion for the food and the community shines through, and it’s the kind of place where you feel like more than just a customer…you’re welcomed like family. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something fresh, flavorful, and full of heart.
Food was Delicious. Our server Emily was wonderful.
As an African living in Lansing, I was genuinely excited to support a Black-owned business that celebrates African and Caribbean culture. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t meet expectations.
The food was extremely oily—honestly, you could reuse the oil to cook another dish. The portion of egusi was small, and I was charged an extra $8 for meat, which is usually included. I didn’t mind the extra cost, but the meat was very dry and not enjoyable.
I won’t say much about the moi moi… the pictures speak for themselves. Altogether, egusi soup and moi moi cost me $42.40.
I truly wanted to love this place and support what it represents, but the quality of the food just wasn’t there.
Amazingly seasoned food, atmosphere is a vibe (though sensory warning music can be a little loud). Shawn was in the kitchen serving up spicy af and delicious red snapper 20/10. Great date night with drinks open late too, which is wild for downtown

He came out to the table and talk to us he was amazing as well… I got pepper turkey and it was 10 out of 10 so good the jollof rice was amazing I also has Shrimp fried rice with the spicy sauce and it was so good and my sister got the red beef and rice.
