I'm sure the food is amazing here, but unfortunately the day my mother ordered here she ordered through door dash, and the dasher had to let her know that the restaurant was closed? How do you let someone pay for your food and you're closed? She is out 40 bucks. Not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, but a little disheartening she was never refunded or given any explanation. What happened?

First time tying fufu and it was amazing.

Exceptional meals. I’ve had Egusi & Goat & the Mackerel whole fish and jollof. Despite the wait, the food is fresh & portions are AMAZING. I’ve been eating Nigerian food for years. LOVE that there is a restaurant in the Greater Lansing Area. I don’t like that it moved to EL but it’s worth the drive. I wish a groundnut/peanut butter soup was on the menu with fish and fufu thats my go to. Additionally, the website could be retooled for online orders. We have several Nigerian restaurants in Cleveland, Ohio so it’s nice to have a go to, maybe the only place to go.

Update (03/11/2025), I decided to give this restaurant another chance but yet again I was disappointed. The Okra stew was not slimy like it should be, it was extremely oily so was the egusi soup. I am not sure what type of oil they cook with but I posted a picture of how the oil stained my nail polish, I am Nigerian and I cook with palm oil and it has never stained my nail polish. I think I will just keep making my Nigerian food myself because this is just a waste of money.

I am sorry but this should not be classified as a Nigerian restaurant, I ordered Okra stew and I got over cooked chicken leg and red sauce. I am glad that I got a refund from Door dash because no one should charge $25 for this mess. I was so excited because I was craving Okra, I should have just gone to the store and cooked it myself. I will definitely NEVER order from this place again, sadly it's the only Nigeria restaurant around here.

I had the fufu with egusi and oxtail, and it was fantastic! The oxtail was cooked to tender perfection and coated in a delicious sauce, and the egusi had a really wonderful complex and rich flavor.

I have never had Nigerian food before but jumped in and ordered some Fufu and Egusi which was absolutely delicious! We had a nice group of us and the restaurant was super cozy!

First time ever having Nigerian food and it was amazing. Not only was the fufu my buddy and I ordered really good, the atmosphere was awesome. In addition, the staff were super nice and you can tell everything was traditional. Highly recommend!!

This food is amazing. Sensational. Delicious at every bite. The restaurant is small and the staff is small too, but always well worth the wait. Please, be prepared to wait! This is not a fast food joint. The owner is an awesome guy who always welcomes us back with a smile. Hope to see this business do well for a long time!

I got takeout from Handie the other day. I've had a lot of different types of curry goat, and Handie's was a delicious take on the dish, bone-in as is typical. I'm not quite sure about the complaint by another reviewer about it being too oily; I found it to have about as much oil as any other curry goat I've had.

I ordered about an hour before they closed so they were out of a couple items, but were very helpful in refunding them from my order. I hope to enjoy Handie again next time I return to E Lansing.

They're using the name "Taste Restaurants" to take advantage of previously positive reviews. Their new location is terrible!

I ordered by phone because I was short on time, but wanted to try to support a newish local business. They asked me when I would pick up and I asked them, "When will it be ready, I will be there." They said give me 20 minutes. I gave them some extra time, and it was ready in 40 minutes. Ok, but it literally took the person filling my order less than 5 minutes to assemble it once they started. There were ZERO other customers waiting for food in the restaurant.

Worker went from handling cash register/payment method without washing their hands or putting on gloves to directly handle food. They were not wearing a hair net, either. I ordered a chicken wrap and meat pie. Chicken wrap was ok, but as others have pointed out, overly greasy. I get that with high-fat content meat, but chicken? The flavors were decent, but not nuanced at all. A very sub-average to average experience.

I also ordered a meat pie. It was stored and served room temperature from the counter, which is an obvious violation of (obvious) food safety laws. I took just a couple of bites just out of curiosity. The dough was overly thick and fatty. Filling may have been ok, but surprisingly based on the wrap was a bit under seasoned and, well, room temperature meat fat just doesn't have a very good texture or taste very good.) It was very unsatisfying and surprise, surprise, I have had an upset stomach since though I usually have a "stomach of steal" and have eaten all kinds of food all over the world without issue.

Total bill with tip was almost $24 dollars for lunch for 1. There are many better meals to be had locally in that area for less than that.

I love the stated concept, want to support this kind of business, but a business also needs to do more to support customers wanting to lend their support with a quality product and minimally basic restaurant management and food safety, including following applicable food safety codes.

Dietary restrictions: If you don't like you risk your innards, maybe reconsider.

Kid-friendliness: If you want your kid to get sick.

Wheelchair accessibility: It's not.
