I had such a great experience at Urban Beat in Old Town, Lansing! The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and welcoming , the perfect mix for a night out. The live music was outstanding, especially getting to see my cousin (Twyla) perform on stage. The sound quality and setup really highlight the artists, and you can feel the energy in the room.
The staff was friendly and attentive, and the vibe made it easy to relax, enjoy the show, and just soak in the night. It’s the kind of spot where you can go for a date night, support local talent, and walk away feeling like you were part of something special.
If you’re looking for a place in Lansing with great live music, a cozy yet lively atmosphere, and a real community feel — Urban Beat is definitely it. Can’t wait to go back!

I worked here briefly and they refuse to email me my pay stubs. They also revoked my access to my paystubs. Which I need for financial reasons. They also refuse to hire a door person for events, putting many of their workers in harms way. Especially during this time when places like the Ave. are being harassed and the other Nazi harassment in old town. They also threaten to cut peoples pay if they do not sell enough. I do not recommend.

We really wanted to like it but the food was simply awful. My wife got Thai Peanut Noodles. It didn't have the green onions listed on it's description, the sauce was nasty, the presentation was unexciting, and we were charged $14.99 while the menu said $12. I got the spinach artichoke dip which looks like something in a horror movie and had no taste whatsoever. We sat out front on the so-called patio and there was a big band and party going inside so maybe we just didn't get the attention that normally we might. Either way, we're not motivated to ever come back. I did try to get a draft beer and was informed that none of the taps were working properly so no draft beer.

Always a great relaxing time. Live music midweek and almost every weekend... Food Menu is a bit lacking, but what they do serve is well made and good.
The owner is frequently there and interacts with us guest.

The blues fest tonight was some of the best blues music I have ever seen .. some songs where my 78 year-old dad was singing along to and some songs that even my 29-year-old self would recognize.
This is hands-down, one of the best spots in Lansing to go to .. if it’s busy, please be patient.. if it’s rowdy please enjoy it.. This is a good crowd and a local place that does nothing but offer the best.
No matter how old they go I hope this place continues to exist and continues to be a staple and old town Lansing

Fabulous night with Walter Blanding and Whee 3 trio. The trio got the night started followed by Walter Blanding. His wife blew that tambourine up! Outstanding instrumentalists. Every one of them. Everyone who took the stage from the audience were great too. See you soon.

Overall, it's a nice place. However, if it's busy, be prepared to ask about your food if it takes too long. Ours had to be remade because it sat outside the kitchen waiting to be brought to us.
