This place is closed for lunch and they haven't changed there website. There food is good but I'm giving a poor rating for bad communication.

Arrived an hour after they're supposed to open for the day. Lights were on, doors were locked. Nowhere did it say that the restaurant wasn't open. Hours were clearly labeled on the door, but they were not observed.
Mediterranean food, super fast, super friendly! The chicken shawarma is amazing, and was featured on Dinner's, Drive in's and Dive's as a influential place to eat.

Place was sold to a new owner. Food portions and quality have went down. It is increasingly harder to order from them as the website is no longer active and the phone line is now automated.

The beef and falafel was raw. Gave us 2 pita bread for a whole order of hummus. Hummus tasted like it didn’t have tahini. Salad was full of water. Last time going to this place.

It was one of our favorite restaurants. I’m not sure what happened. We went for lunch today. The parking lot used to be full with tables filled inside. It was almost empty today. The food has completely changed. The hummus wasn’t smooth like it used to be, and the flavor was different. The pitas were served in huge portions that you had to tear down instead of small like they were. The shawarma was not good! It was so salty. I ate a portion and didn’t finish the rest. So sad, but we won’t be back.
Ordered vegetarian toon for two and had to take half of it home… but the food was SO good!

Edit 5/19/24I don't know if last night was just an off night, but what has happened to this place?Last night I picked up a Toon for Two, a $42+ platter, our favorite, and got it home and everything was terrible. The steak wasn't cooked. It was tough and rubbery. The chicken kabob was overcooked and dry. The fried cabbie was undercooked. I don't know what the hell they've done to their falafel? They used to be perfect little pillows all fluffy, moist. Now they're like paintball pellets hard, flavorless and dry. Fel-AWEFUL!The grape leaves were missing. The hummus was Baba Ghanoush. The only redeeming qualities were the shish kata, shawarma and rice. It's a huge bummer when you make the trek to one of your favorite places, drive 45min there and 45min back home and find everything is off. I'm not too eager to give them another try, but hope this was just a bad night. They used to taste so fresh and flavorful. Last night tasted like the results of inflation. Cost cutting and uninspired.Original Review:My friend Gregg put it best when he said this place's food is a miracle. Every time I go there I nearly break into tears because of how God damn flavorful the food is.You ever eat something so good that it makes you slow down, close your eyes and you start hearing that Kenny G Songbird song in your head because it tastes so good that you think you have fallen in love with some falafel? You will if you go here.I'm honestly astounded that this place isn't the most famous Middle Eastern restaurant in Michigan. Their Toon for Two is a national treasure and you cannot beat the price.Stop reading and start eating!

Look at their parking lot at lunch time...it says it all. Used to be crazy busy. Now, sadly, it is a business which will soon be out of business if they don't straighten out their situation in the kitchen.
Zaytoon used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Lansing! Sadly, this location has gone extremely downhill. Today I ordered a chicken shawarma platter with extra rice instead of salad. Not only did they give me only ONE small piece of pita bread, instead of putting the extra rice on the side like they would have the salad, they decided to fill half of the chicken side of the box with more rice, giving less chicken. I also ordered a side of fresh bread which stated that it came with two pieces, and received only one. Talk about cheap and tacky. When I called to ask about it I was informed that that’s just how they do it now. Needless to say, I won’t be back. There are much better, affordable and generous Mediterranean cuisine establishments to spend your money at. Skip this one!

This place has really gone downhill. They left the shell and legs on my shrimp (didn't used to be like that). The last time I got the tabouli it was obvious that they didn't wash the parsley. Sad because this used to be my favorite middle eastern restaurant.
This place has been in my top 3 for 5 years now! If you have yet to try this joint, get the toons for two. It's a great way to introduce you and a loved one to arguably the best restaurant in the county. If you can't cover $30 plus tip, get the chicken schwarma lunch. Its cheap filling and high quality eats. Get lost tabooli...Update: 10 years and it's still as amazing as always! Dine in to get fresh bread (ask for it).
