As a food reviewer, I create videos online and was invited by an employee of Pueblo Viejo to try their food. I don’t usually leave additional written reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience because I grew up in alapeer and know the people to be hard working and most of them, myself included, are limited on time or money for lunch.
I placed an online order about 40 minutes before arriving, yet I still had to wait an extra 10 minutes past the scheduled pickup time, despite the restaurant only having three occupied tables. When I opened my taco container, the food was carelessly thrown together, and the Al Pastor was nothing but fat—no actual protein.
The birria was beef, which should be clearly advertised because traditional birria is not made with beef. The consommé for the birria quesadilla was essentially just oil with no actual broth, making it nearly inedible. While my desserts had good flavor, they were stale, and the meat in my pozole was overly fatty.
Overall, I’d rate Pueblo Viejo around a 3.5 out of 10. If you're looking for truly authentic flavors, I’d recommend saving your money and visiting a restaurant outside of Lapeer instead.

Service is the only thing I can say was good here. If you're used to authentic Mexican or even really good food, I'd say skip this place. The rice was overcooked. The beans were bland. The salsa tasted as if it were store bought. None of the staff, including cooks, were Mexican. If you want something to eat and are desperate, sure. Otherwise, hard pass.

Thank you for putting a 5 party table together using two tables in the bar area right next to a table of two so that way we couldn’t even enjoy our meal together. It was so bad that even the server couldn’t get through between the two. Isn’t that why you guys have that room to the side? No oh ok. We won’t be back
Terrible service! Guacamole was more liquid than solid! Took 1 hour to get our food. The tacos tasted good that's a fact, but using a dirty fork to scoop my water infused Guacamole was super unsuccessful. Poor choice for dinner.

I've been there before it was always good I got some carne asada steak tacos and their ice cold and it was cold inside freezing the third was a fresh like it usually always is I won't be going back
