Take your chances, or have a few drinks before you order food so you don’t care as much. Food was horrible. Got ribs, they were beyond burnt, so bad that what little meat was on the bone was like chewing on a rock. It was bad bad. The quesadilla was missing the sauce and had less flavor than the burnt ribs. Forgot our sides. The kids meal was so bad my garbage disposal so. Would t even touch it. The only thing that resembled food was the tiny corn bread muffin. Only redeeming factor was we had gift certificates and didn’t have to pay for it.

We originally found Woodchips during the Covid shut down. I love that they were able to expand. It became one of our favorite places and I don't even like BBQ. I believe nothing but their ribs are sauced. Food is always good. They have the best chicken wings and you have to try the variety of eggrolls. We also like the chicken tacos and BBQ quesadilla. For the prices they could give a larger serving of fries, not their strongest quality. We usually have good service. I don't enjoy the one person at the hostess stand, iykyk. They don't serve dessert because they want to go to Kookys and Cream, located across the street. If you bring in your own dessert, whether it's from Kookys and Cream, for a celebration, they will charge you for a plating fee. There is a coupon for a free cookie with a purchase at the bottom of your receipt. I highly recommend eating here and supporting a local business that cares for their community.

Got takeout for a bday party. Food was ice cold and hard. No sauce was included or plastic silverware (like Bad Brads) Burnt ends were dry and no sauce on them. No one was happy with the food quality. Portions were so tiny I was in shock. My family left most of the food so I wasted $90. 1/4 pound of brisket is only 2 tiny 4” pieces. Wings were hard . Mac n cheese was cold and hard. Asked for blue cheese for wings and was given ranch.

Born and raised in Lapeer. Moved to Genesee County a few years ago. Will always drive out of my way for Woodchips. Tried a new bbq place near me. Had something that looked like the Woodchips nachos. Was so disappointed. Drove to Lapeer the next day to get my fix after being disappointed from the other place, who was also more expensive. Woodchips nachos is my favorite. Killer Apple and Carolina sauce. Will continue to drive out of my way. It’s worth it. And you don’t see many business owners as charitable as Patrick. So hard to find good bbq in Michigan. Have come to the conclusion most people in Michigan don’t know good bbq. Also tried Lightning rounds for the first time a bit ago. Loved it. Great people.
