This was the absolute reason we came to Leland- THE FISH! But my experience was sadly underwhelming. I got the fish sausages and the lady snapped them in half to pack them up for me. Then the taste was so bland.

The absolute reason you should come to Leland — besides the views — IS THE FISH! This town has such a rich history of fishing and was actually (of course) originally settled by the Ottawa because of its amazing resources.
Carlson has the smoked salmon and whitefish you want. They also make an excellent whitefish pate and salmon pate.
If you want fresh fish, they got that too! Also apparently great jerky though I’ve never tried. One of their staples.
Excited to dig into the pate and the smoked fish!

Darrell is a great employee. You can tell he has a passion for what he does! He showed my family around the place - the fish they caught that morning, what the smokers looked like, and their process for smoking fish and turkey jerky. He was so kind! We will definitely be coming back.

For over 40 years our family has been coming to the lovely town of Leland, aka "Fish town" and Carlson's has always been a stop for smoked fish. When I was younger I didn't appreciate the taste or smell, but when a little older and I tried it I realized how delicious it was. Now I crave it whenever I visit ? and at our most recent visit we tried the smoked trout, whitefish and Chub. I would say I'm not as big a fan of the Chub, which has more small bones and the taste is not as good, but it's still tasty. But the trout and whitefish are mouth watering amazing and all our adults in the group devour it. SOOO good. Wonderful family business and a must for smoked fish lovers.
