This place is legit! Great fish of many different species. Everything is fresh. Our group got quite a few different types including fried whitefish, trout, walleye, clam strips, fresh fish dip, and smoked whitefish. Fries were great. Cheesesticks were delicious. Everyone enjoyed everything. Walk up and order inside. Picnic tables outside. A nice community picnic area near by if nothings available at the restaurant area. Delicious. If you like fish you’ll love this place. If you need the light cornbread batter to be seasoned to cover up the flavor of fish go elsewhere or bring your old bay. Like everything else the prices go up, but they sell the fish by the pound to the portions are always the same. If you go don’t bother with the cod, perch or whitefish or any of the mild fish. Go with the trout or salmon or the catfish. If you’re a tilapia person don’t bother you...
We had to try Bortell’s when we were camping at Bass Lake! Highly recommend by us! Perfect amount of light breading and literally MADE TO ORDER! Fish fry Friday taken to the next level. Well worth the wait.
