Ice House BBQ

Ice House went above and beyond to cater our wedding reception. The location is stupendous, being close to downtown, but tucked away behind the island house hotel. It feels like its own private villa. Andrea and Peter worked with us to create a delicious menu that left our guests coming back for seconds. They even thought about things we did not and provided a tent for the dance floor to help keep the heat in at no extra charge and printed out copies of a crossword puzzle we made for our guests. It's a shame they closed the day after our reception, because we would have come back and eaten there the next day!

I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. There aren’t that many BBQ options on the menu and the food was ok.

Great dog friendly patio tucked away from the crowds in Mackinac! Typical prices for the island but the service was super quick and food was tasty. Each table has an umbrella so the whole patio is shaded. Definitely check out if you are traveling with a furry friend!

Very nice place for lunch.

We came in time for our reservation however the restaurant decided to close early and the waitress wanted to go home. Asked for butter and it took at least ten minutes. My wife and I had smoked brisket and three of the four pieces were one third fat.

Went here with my wife today and the host told us there was about a twenty minute wait. We were happy to wait but the server Ryan? Came over and said he could take us! We were delighted untill we watched him talk to other tables for about twenty minutes before bringing us water… would have rather sat in the lawn with a drink from the bar and waited… very disappointed we got up and left. The host was very understanding of our disappointment and suggested we go over to the bar! The bartender was so sweet and kind. We know who you should permote and who you should fire! Do better…

I had the roast chicken and an appetizer of smoked whitefish. The whitefish was very good but there was not enough naan. For the main we had a half smoked chicken. It was just okay. Kind of gristly in spots, very greasy, and there were no appropriate utensils for cutting it. The Cole slaw was very good and the corn bread was decent but spicy.

I hate coming to a restaurant on vacation and getting a mean girl for a server. Do better Caitlynn…

Relaxing place to eat. Food is relatively inexpensive for being on the island. Maybe expected more flavor but price was good.

Ice House BBQ is a hidden gem and easily one of our favorite spots on Mackinac Island. The outdoor dining area is peaceful and charming, surrounded by beautiful landscaping with cute little squirrels running around. It feels like a backyard cookout in the best way, with lawn games like cornhole available while you wait for your food.

The pizza from the outdoor oven was excellent, with a light and airy crust that was cooked perfectly. We also had the burnt end mac and cheese, which was rich and comforting. We added some barbecue sauce to it, and that made it even better. The kettle chips with blue cheese dip were a great starter and had just the right balance of flavor and crunch.

Between the great food, relaxing environment, and friendly atmosphere, Ice House BBQ is absolutely worth a visit when you’re on the island.
