“Awesome!!!!! Breakfast sandwiches are great. Cinnamon rolls are the kids favorite - they did seem a tad smaller this year. Coffee options great and I see lunch sandwich options for a quicker bite but haven’t tried this yet. Would recommend. Also conveniently located right below where we stay. Five stars.”

“I had a taste-test date night with my wife. We bought PB fudge from every store on the island and in Mac City. We can say with certainty that Murray Hotel Fudge Company has the best Peanut Butter fudge in the straights. We also agreed that theirs is the creamiest fudge on the island. There are so many flavors, but my favorite is the Cinnamon Bun! Although there was an error in our rather large online order, they proved that their service is excellent by correcting it right away. Latoya was wonderful and helpful. Thanks!!”

“It was a wonderful experience! We had the kids meal and also the 1/4 Mighty Mac. It was definitely one of the most affordable food options on the island. The interior looked so retro, with old photos from around the island. Overall, it was cool experience. If you just want to try it, I would recommend the Kids Hamburger, as it was around $6 for a burger, fries, and a drink. Good deal if you aren’t super hungry! Sorry no photos of the food, it was inhaled shorty after receiving it. One thing I did notice was that their hours are different from online. They were open from 10:30 am to 5 pm, so just be mindful of that.”

“We were up visiting as we celebrated our youngest daughters adoption day. Sanders was kind enough to personalize a cake for us and surprised our girl with a personalized cookie too! Such kind people with delicious goodies!”

“Delicious!!! Got a hamburger and a sugarloaf hotdog. Both were delicious. Fast service and staff was very friendly. Plenty of picnic tables to enjoy a nice lunch in the sun and listen to the waves. Highly recommend and will definitely come back”

“Everything has to be five star quality...right? The facility is beautiful. You can just imagine the gala parties of the early 1900's here. The dinning room is nicely decorated and very elegant. That tables and linens are very attractive. The seating and host operations make you feel welcome immediately. We came for the $75 lunch buffet. The $10 facility entry process was easy and fast to navigate. This gives the opportunity to wander the facility and admire the incredible structure and upkeep. The dinning room is a long walk upstairs. The dinning room hostess competes the balance is the the transactions. Note that they credit your $10 entrance fee to the meal cost. The $75 fee includes the tip and a non-alcoholic/soda pop drink. Again this process was very easy. The food..no matter what you pick...is excellent, for the purpose of this review I will give you my favorite selections. The deviled eggs were very creamy, beautifully swirled and delicious. The yolk filling was very plain with a traditional taste. The egg and tuna salads had a predictable classic taste. No heavy on mayo bit a good blend that allows the egg and tuna to emerge. The shrimp are absolutely incredible. Fresh, large and a crisp seafood flavor. Their is plenty of cocktail sauce and horseradish if you want to kick up the zip. The clams and oysters were also fresh and tasty! Nice touch for a buffet. I found the short ribs to be absolutely incredible. Very moist and tender. Spoon up some extra sauce to further bathe the rib. The sauce helps accent the beef taste just a bit more. The maple BBQ chicken breast was nice. The chicken was throughly cooked. The BBQ glaze had a mild BBQ taste to the slightly dry breast. There were lots of desserts to choose from. The classic pecan rolls were okay. Ice cream soaked in a mild milk chocolate sauce. I thought there could be more pecans to balance out the ice cream and healthy amount of chocolate sauce. The small cakes were tasty as well. I will admit that I was very disappointed in the service of our attendant. There were plenty of people to serve all the tables. Our lady had about four small tables. I was surprised that dirty dishes sat on the table for about two trips to the buffet. We had to constantly ask for refills. She was not very friendly or welcoming.”

“We enjoyed a fabulous dinner tonight in the gem of Round Island Kitchen. The “ fall menu” did not disappoint! I enjoyed Salmon prepared with squash purée and lentils. My husband loved the pan-roasted chicken served with barley, squash and spinach. Dessert of Pear cake and Espresso Martini finished our evening. We could not give higher praise to the kitchen or the wait staff. Hurry to see them before the 3024 season comes to a close.”

“Our family of 5 had dinner at Horns Bar last night, 10.25. After a long day of traveling and encountering some very rude customer service on our stops, it was so refreshing to have a server with such enthusiasm and kindness that Lanie showed to our family! She made suggestions, shared stories and invited us back. We come to the island every year and always to Horns Bar and are really looking forward to seeing her again next year! Thank you, Lanie, we would give 10 stars if we could! :)”

“Pizza lunch buffet is great, especially for the price! They even asked us which pizzas we like as we paid at the beginning and brought those out onto the buffet line. They were friendly and helpful. Line was kept clean & refreshed. Definitely will come again and recommend to others!Kid-friendliness: Prices are great. Surprising amount of options for a smaller buffet. Plenty for kids to pick him.”

“We were there this evening with our 4 grown granddaughters. Ages 23-30. What a beautiful experience. Our waiter John was all we could hope for. Bravo John. All the staff we encountered were great. The sweet lady who made our Flaming Peach Melba was entertaining and special. Many thanks to her. The food....Bravo. An interesting appetizer plate. Steaks cooked as everyone ordered. Baked potatoes and Asparagus a hit. One granddaughter had Philadelphia Chicken and was very pleased. I had the Lasagna. Let me tell you that while untraditional it was so good. I would order it again. I had Cole slaw...excellent. A good word for my Lasagna ...Excellent! Attentive service. Friendly and engaging. It seemed like the staff was a team. I can’t say enough good about Chippewa Room.”

“We have been to the UP several times and each time try pasties from different places. So far, the first two times were just okay. But this time we went to homemade pasties and it was THE BEST we have had. Crust was flakey and perfect, and the filling savory and perfectly cooked. The gravy was also beyond wonderful. I made the mistake of saying gravy only with the sliders. Do not be like past Kim. Be like Kim in a few days who will get more beef pasties with gravy. All the gravy. If they offer it in quarts, quarts of gravy. Seriously. The sliders we found were easier to eat than the regular size, but honestly you can’t go wrong either way. I did prefer the beef to chicken.”

More often than not, our uppity palates have been disappointed by the amount of restaurants in MI that carry solely Cisco (or the like) products.Max the tender, and Jer the cook were the only ones at the bar at 1pm on a Saturday in December. I was nervous there was no one there, but starving so we ordered the shiitake appetizer and the Brisket sandwich.We settled in with our marvelous pints and we started eating - with each bite it became more obvious that this seemingly simple food had been thought up by a person who has a delicate, discerning taste of a brewer. The flavors are expertly balanced, high quality ingredients with humble honest plating.My foodie demon has been reawakened.I tackled Max with questions, and this dude does not disappoint. a wealth of knowledge and hospitality, he probably is the closest thing you can get to the mythical bar-keep only seen in fantasy taverns.Upon telling him my experience, he recommended several other places to try on our travels- one of which we went to on our way back. Thai Orchid in Petoskey. After finishing that meal we almost cried. But that is another story.He needs to run for office. In fact, I think we should create a whole new elected official position. Culinary Cultivator and Almighty guide, or some such b.s...I also want to mention that we live in Manistee, in case some restaurateur takes pity on us and decides our community deserves more high quality, honest food.”

“This is a great winery! Service was excellent, and for $16.95, you can have a tasting and take home a glass. Mice selection of dry, sweet, and dessert wines. We enjoy everything and the experience. There are plenty of bottles to buy as well.”
