Camping at Wilderness State Park. Stopped in, So Good, we went back the next day, before we left for home, for the Slayer Again

A dive bar. A bit dirty, and the food is questionable. They also recently posted a fake photo of the Mackinac that has upset a few people. Falsely claiming the bridge was collapsing and call those of us who didn't believe the photo liars, and then blocking us from commenting. Very poor business practice and a very disturbing social media presence....Update: 10/26/25 In response to Key Hole Bars response: I immediately called out your post as fake. You responded by assuring me it was real and you in fact were the original author. It did not originally contain a disclaimer, your lying. Your post was irresponsible and potentially dangerous. And last of all my review of your food was based on my last in person experience at your Hole. I haven't since and will never again waste my time and money at the Key Hole Bar and Grill. This is me, having a nice day....😁

We had a great time there this Friday night. It was busy, but our party of 5 was seated within 15 minutes. We celebrated my 83 year-old father in law's birthday. Burgers and beers is what he wanted and that's what we had. The hostess/waitress who seated us thanked him for his service as we entered and then again as we left. A genuine gesture like this is appreciated. The burgers, onion rings, and fries are top notch. The staff is outstanding. The atmosphere is festive. And, the beer is COLD. Great bar and gril. Will be back to try the cod and the wings.

Use to drive over a hour to come have wings. The staff has been super rude the last two visits . I work in a tourist fast paced atmosphere so I understand more than anyone how overwhelming it can be. But it does not give staff the right to treat people like a bother or annoyed they are wanting to be your guest. I am basically a local. Take the 1 drive alot to come there. Decided this last time I wont be any longer .

When we first arrived we were seated quickly with no wait, which was nice but the hostess was rude not really acknowledging us but waved us to followed before tossing the menus down on the table and leaving without a word. We hoped our waitstaff would be better but we were also disappointed with our waitress. Short worded, impatient with questions about the menu and rarely came by the table to check on us. The food was your typical bar food. The chili (my starter) was honestly the best part. The taste was great but it wasn’t hot, just lukewarm. As our main we both got burgers and they were decent, just what you’d expect from a bar/pub. Wouldn’t recommend, you can find better in the area.

Have eaten here many times on our trips to and from the UP, and always have had a good experience.
In putting this review together, I’m remembering the past times, and not just one bad experience, thus the 4 star rating.
I’m a big believer that wait staff can make or break a dining experience.
Last night our meals were good, outside of wondering why at least chips were not served with sandwiches, but our server was far from adequate.
Our waiter, Cay?, was very short with us and on the rude side when taking our order, then he never stopped at our table again. At the end of our meal, we waited at least 10 minutes for the bill, finally going to the bar to pay. I did inform staff of our experience before we left.
At the end of the day, an inattentive and somewhat rude waitstaff can make an otherwise positive experience into one that will be remembered in a negative way.

Been here a few times now. Your typical bar in a small town. Keys are the motif throughout, hence the Key Hole Bar. Keys on the walls, in the bar itself, even imbedded in the floor in the bathroom. Food is reasonably priced and tastes better than most bars of this type. A wide selection of food. Sandwiches, apps, burgers, Mexican, fish, etc. You know, bar food. Service was above average. A few local craft brews on tap along with the usual favorites. Worth a stop if you're in the area of Mackinac City. We come here often, as recently as October of 2025.

Friendly staff, SCRATCH food! They make their soups in house. Also - clean! 👍🏻🙏🏻👍🏻potatoe skins were not prepackaged Gordon’s nonsense but two whole baked potatoes cooked to golden perfection with hot bubbly Colby jack, comes w sour cream and house made salsa.

Had lunch with my wife today and she ordered baked potato skins. They were overcooked. When telling the waiter, he said there was nothing he could do and asked me if I wanted to speak to manager. I said yes. Manager came over to table and we explained the situation. She did not want to offer a replacement meal or refund. She actually asked if we wanted a box to go for the potatoes. They were uneatable. All she said was she would let to cook know. We had good meals in the past here but today’s was very disappointing. My reuben sandwich has very little corned beef in it and consisted mostly of sauerkraut and bread. I did even mention that because my wife’s meal was overcooked and too hard to eat.

Very poor food and service.. disappointing after driving 4 hours and looking forward to a good meal.

Will not eat there again
