Taste of Di Island Eatery

Visited on a busy weekend. They didn't answer the phone until the fifth try. Called ahead and the food was very expensive. Took about an hour to make. The jerk chicken was very good but a little fatty for my taste. The rice was plain but still good.

Upon arrival, the waitress didn't seem like she wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone other than her friends. She kind of just pointed to sit wherever to my girlfriend and I. She took our orders and brought our drinks; then was pretty much absent till our meal was ready. Got our food and everything was delicious. We indulged in dumplings, cassava, honey jerk wings, sweet potato fries, oxtail and curry goat. All in all far from the worst experience; service was whatever, atmosphere was chill and the food was superb highly recommend the honey jerk chicken and cassava.

This is a reliably good choice. The atmosphere is friendly, the menu has something for everyone, the flavors are fantastic and it is located near plenty of parking.

I don't usually review places but had to this time - the jerk chicken had a good flavor but was upwards of 50% bone, and I put a lot of effort into getting meat off. $17 for about 2.5 boneless wings worth of meat with 4x the effort. Not sure how the other options compare.

They suck... reminded me of being in Chicago. You just stand there and no one attend to you or take your order.

Really good and balanced food.

We ordered the Chickpea delight and Brown stew Tofu. The food was really nice and flavorful. We had sweet potato fires and sweet plantains for sides. I personally liked the sweet plantains best and she preferred the sweet potato fries.

I liked the portion size and how balanced the meal was, which was unlike the other restaurants around. The waitstaff was polite.
The only reason I'm giving a 4 star for atmosphere was the annoying lady at the table across. She was just being rude and indecisive, excessively complaining and asking the same questions again and again vexing the waitstaff. She told them the first set of dishes were unsatisfactory and after a whole 1o minutes of asking the same questions in different order, placed her re-order with a lot of customization. Meanwhile her husband was eating the two initial plates, when she asked how the food was he just said " its good " and continued eating.
We were really hungry when we arrived and due to this re-order shenanigans by her our food got delayed.

Out of five restaurants we have eaten at since we arrived Mackinac Island, this is the BEST!!! I mean taste is everything to me, husband and our friends. It's even very much affordable compared to the other places. Wish we found it sooner. This will be our lunch spot until we leave the island vacation?

The food was so delicious! We got the jerk chicken burger with sweet potatoe fries and the curried chickpea meal and they were amazing!

This food is seriously amazing, Better than a lot of the jerk places down in the south. Could not get enough of the jerk pork and plantains. Would eat there once a week if I was local

Lunch special is a steal. Flavors are great. Best place to eat in Mackinac, hands down.

Pictured is chicken curry lunch and jerked chicken lunch. Recommend the rice and peas on the side. I got the ground provisions. Which I don’t think many will appreciate but I loved them for dipping the extra sauce.

Side note to owners. Would love if we could buy a side of the slaw and or the fried banana. Those are worth the extra purchase!

We tried the jerk chicken, bammy, fries, and pineapple cake. All were excellent! I highly recommend if you are looking for a unique spot in the area.
