The atmosphere here is very blah. Maybe it's connected to a motel, shrug. It is up kept there's fresh paint and floors are nice. I ordered the Goulash ($11). It was excellent. In the top 5 of Goulash I've had! Came out steaming hot. A lot of Goulashes come relatively dry, this was saucy. Not like spaghetti, but enough so there's plenty of taste per bite. The portion size was very generous too. The service was below average. Not bad just not good. They were clearly understaffed. The only waitress working didn't seem to enjoy her job. Plus I had to ask for refills. Overall I'm giving a 3 1/2 stars, but rounding up to 4. Would I return? Yes, Goulash is a favorite and other things look good too!

Absolutely awesome! We ordered a couple appetizers and lunches for 4 of us and all of our food was homemade with large portions! We will definitely be back!

We stayed at the Manistee Hotel and got free breakfast from the cafe. Always fresh and hot!

After reading some of the negative reviews, I feel compelled to share my experience. This is a delightful place for breakfast.. The food was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. I will surely come here again when I am back in this area.

We had a Wonderful breakfast this morning. Hot...Hot food. Scrambled eggs just right. Huge pancakes. Omelet was tasty. The cranberry walnut bread was so good!! All for a very reasonable price. Going back again!!

One of my favorite places to go in town. We've been supporting them for a number of years now and even though they're not perfect, there's a lot of great qualities about Blue Waters Cafe. Sure, the food can take a little bit of time but you have to take into account that they also do deliveries as well so even if you don't see people in the restaurant, they may be working on food for a carry out or delivery order. They can also get quite creative with some of their food. It hasn't been so much lately just because of time constraints and Covid keeping everything sort of uncertain. If time is of concern, maybe go a bit earlier or just get fast food as quality food takes time to cook. Some of my favorites are the country style omelet with their yummy homemade raisin or cinnamon toast, they also make their own chicken strips using their own breading with seasonings. They aren't your typical restaurant chicken strips. The goulash is definitely one of their good comfort foods on the dinner menu and you get plenty to fill you up. Their taco basket is really good too. It's hard to find a place that makes good taco meat but theirs is very well balanced so it's not overpowered with seasoning but not a sissy seasoning either. Now something they don't always have but it's more of an actual special is their lasagna. That is their ultimate comfort food in my opinion. You used to get one giant piece but now you get two smaller pieces which actually works better so that it is heated thoroughly and doesn't have cold spots in the middle. I always order it when it is on special. They make some delicious homemade soups as well. Their chicken dumpling is a classic and something known for way back when it was still Old Town Restaurant when they were back on 8th Street. Their crab pepperjack and autumn veggie are very good too. Something they haven't made in a while but if they ever do again, I highly recommend the Southwest Chili. It has a good smoky bbq flavor to it. Now if all of that wasn't enough for you, they have some very good desserts as well. Their iced brownies are to die for and their cakes are very good too, but I'm more of a brownie kinda guy so I'm a bit biased there. But above all, their pumpkin cake roll is one of those things that you want to keep eating but eventually you get sick because it's so sweet. Most of the time you can order a whole log to go. Highly recommended! The only gripe I have is that the coffee can be hit and miss but I don't think it's necessarily their fault as I've noticed other places that serve GFS coffee can either be spot on or so weak it's like drinking hot water. But coffee hasn't turned me on in a while now so I haven't ordered it lately so I can't speak for how it is now. Anyway, like I said, the wait can be a little long sometimes depending on the time of day and amount of orders they have. But if you're not in a hurry and you're with a friend or a loved one, it's a great time to have a good conversation and share a few laughs as time seems to pass a lot faster that way.

Didn't get what we asked for. The food was burned and they said we were wrong. Definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Not enough help. One person doing everything. Food ok but not great. When in town again would go elsewhere.

Food had a black curly hair in it and the lady basically tried telling us it was ours when we all have blonde hair.

Place was disgusting and our waitress was an old hag. Pretty sure she was high because she took 19 minutes to bring a straw. There was a hair in the food and she only wanted to give $1 off.

The stuffed French toast is my favorite but everything I tried is good

We stayed in a different hotel where the front desk people suggested this stop for brunch - so glad they did! It's a bit tricky to find (it's part of the Manistee Hotel), but once you do, you'll be glad you did. The staff was extremely friendly and quick with the service, and the food was excellent. Huge pancakes and omelettes overflowing with meat, cheese, and sausage gravy - aka: comfort food - made for full bellies all-day: perfect for a day at the beach. Do yourself a favor: save some money and fill-up here. We'll come back for dinner next time we are in the area - the menu was expansive (which is how we felt about our belt lines after ), but at such a great price for a resort town. Kudos to the owners - we loved it.
