My husband had the turkey sandwich on 3 seed bread and said it was very good. I have a veggie wrap and it was also very good. The Food to Table choices are a really nice. We would choose this restaurant if we visit Marquette again.
Original 2020 review: I stopped into Cafe Bodega for a quick lunch while visiting the area after hearing they had decent vegan options. There were a few options, but they were a bit unfulfilling...for example, for huevos rancheros, there weren't any options to replace the meat, cheese, and egg. For the only place in town, it would be lucrative to carry some vegan replacements. Basically, I got mole sauce on top of refried beans between tortillas...makes me think I should have gone to Border Grill, instead. Also, the service was mediocre and the server's disposition made me feel like a burden and a nuisance, even before modifying my food. It seemed like there were 6 employees for 4 tables yet still behind. The drinks were fantastic, though. All in all, there was food, drinks, and good prices. I'd come back to see if the options or service improves but my first impression was decent, not great. 2025 update: Service was great. The menu hasn't changed much, if at all. The breakfast and lunch/dinner burrito/wrap is the same lentil patty. It's good, but it's not "breakfast." Adding tofu to the menu would be incredible. Imagine a tofu scramble or a tofu sandwich. All you need to do is switch the seasonings, marinade, and/or batter. The fries are incredible. You can tell they put effort into their food, but a little more effort on the vegan side would go a long way in this area without many other options.
Poor service. The first time I went was great, second time not great.
The food here is incredible. When you arrive you are greeted with a table card that tells you to expect a wait because the food is made fresh. Some might meet that with distain but the wait is worth it. My dish was huevos rancheros and it might have been the best Mexican breakfast dish I’ve ever had. Garbage Disposal Dad polished off everyone’s else’s plates. Do not skip Bodega.

This was our second time here. We came last summer and it was the longest time I have experienced to get food. We thought the restaurant was just having a bad night so thought to give it another chance this summer. Our waitress was friendly and let us know the kitchen being behind, despite it not being very busy. I also found it humorous that they have a note on the table that fresh food takes time and the wait could be up to 45 minutes. We are from Traverse City and have several restaurants that are farm to table and don’t take over an hour for the food to arrive. While we were there another party was so upset they walked out before their food ever arrived and said they waited 2.5 hours. When our food finally did arrive our tacos didn’t come with the pico, beans, ect it says is included on the menu. My husband didn’t even get his meal with everyone else. By the time his meal was delivered everyone had finished eating and we took his to go. The food is good but it’s a terrible experience. This is definitely a management issue, and I hope they get their things figured out.
i ordered a cheeseburger but there was so little cheese on it it was like they were trying to forcibly make me vegan

If I were here just to admire the décor, it would’ve been a great experience. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We arrived at 11:25 and waited over 40 minutes to be seated. Once at our table at 12:07, we weren’t offered anything while we waited. Our food didn’t arrive until 1:15 That’s a full two hours from arrival to meal, with no communication or effort to make the wait more comfortable. Sadly, it felt like our entire day was wasted.

I mean the food is OK. Overpriced. They say its all local but the rumor mill says a lot of it is sysco prodcuts. Idk what's true but it doesnt help me feel better about the prices.

They say they are all about freshness... but when it comes to the juice, its not. 6$ for some dole orange juice... wasn't even fresh orange juice at that price. Either adjust your price accordingly for canned juice, or start serving fresh orange juice at that price.

Fantastic food and atmosphere! Love the farm to table, and the food was delicious! But not great service. We asked questions and the only answer she gave was I don’t know. When my food arrived, it was the wrong order. I asked if this was what I ordered and she said. “ No, I put in …” No apologies, and just asked if I wanted what I ordered. Yes. I wanted what I ordered. It’s not the biggest deal in the world, but it’s always nicer when you get a server who cares about the people. Definitely will go back, but hopefully get a better server.

Our server was pleasant, but very uninformed about ingredient details. After waiting close to 40 minutes for our food, it arrived lukewarm and dried out. 4 of us ordered the whitefish. Only one was a full filet. The other 3 NOT a full filet , 4 oz at most. The restaurant was almost empty, we arrived at 4pm. And I know they say it takes longer for fresh prep. But when the food arrives lukewarm in a restaurant that's not busy, I don't buy it.

We appreciate the use of grassfed local meats and local farm produce, which is why we came here. We rarely eat out and were hoping for an awesome burger experience. After waiting almost an hour (the waitress never checked on us once), the burger came out very over-cooked and dry, on a tiny bun. We ordered it medium.
We were pretty underwhelmed by the experience.
They mention “slow food movement”, but this is a bit too slow for comfort. And the results are not exciting.
For such a positive focus on awesome ingredients we wish the food and service were more satisfying! Not so much. Do not recommend and would not come back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Breakfast in Marquette – Fresh, Flavorful, and Perfectly Cooked!
Bodega is hands-down the best breakfast spot in Marquette! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and seated right away. The cozy, modern atmosphere makes it the perfect place to start your day.
The breakfast menu is loaded with fresh, flavorful options for every craving. I had the Spud Plate with over-easy eggs, melted cheese, and hearty 3-seed toast — absolutely delicious! The ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful.
Coffee lovers will be in heaven — their coffee is rich, smooth, and served piping hot, with refills offered before you even think to ask.
If you’re looking for fresh, made-to-order breakfast in Marquette, Bodega should be at the top of your list. Great food, amazing coffee, and friendly, attentive service make it our new favorite morning restaurant. Highly recommend!
