I had a perfect light lunch here. I was wandering in downtown Marquette and just happened on this restaurant which I had read reviews about. My salad with apples and Blue cheese and nuts was excellent and not too big. Of course, then I went downstairs and had an ice cream cone. The restaurant is upstairs. I don't know if there is an elevator.
Good spot for your sweet tooth. Every imaginable chocolate treat. Animal crackers covered in chocolate, chocolate truffles, chocolate bark. They have breakfast here as well. We grabbed some assortment of chocolates. I tend to like darker chocolate treats. It's almost too many options here. Dining in the back part of the store. The animal covered chocolate was not as good as it looked. Just tasted like a steel cracker encapsulated in chocolate. None of the chocolates that I grabbed, and I had quite an assortment or special to me. The only one I liked was the dark chocolate with a caramel. Every other random dark chocolate piece I grabbed was just OK, but not special. A little disappointing after spending almost $37 on a variety of different chocolates.
Donckers is in a historic, high-ceilinged building. The ground floor is a combination of chocolate shop (great truffles) and what looks like a coffee cafe. The restaurant is upstairs. It is a long flight of stairs but fortunately there is an elevator. We got the table next to the bay window overlooking the street. The space has a very homey feel with whimsical decor. The food was good, not outstanding. Service was fine. Prices were a bit high but okay considering the quality. Their corned beef hash has small, thin squares of meat, different than what I'm used to, but plenty of it and tasty enough. This place is fine, but don't expect something out of the ordinary.
Great place! The space is wonderful. The service was great. I heard the breakfast burritos were the best and they did deliver.
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that my hashbrowns were cold and the burritos I got wasn't exactly what I ordered. I asked for bacon and got sausage.
We will return and I expect to raise that star next time.;-)
Oh my word, the hazelnut truffles were amazing!! We came back to visit the UP and stopped in to see your shop. Got some ice cream and several types of truffles. I tried to ration myself but finally gave up, they’re too good! Kids liked the espresso truffles, too. We were there on the 20th, the young woman that helped was very patient and helpful.
The food was OK and the ingredients were good. It took over 35 minutes for us to get our sandwiches little disappointing in the service and we had several times to ask for napkins, silverware, and basic utensils.
Candy, chocolate, fudge etc.... mmmmm good!
My family went here about a month ago when we were on vacation and loved the retro diner atmosphere! Service was great and all the lunch items we ordered were really good. My kids loved the little chocolate and souvenir shop attached. Only critique is that the menu seems a little pricey for what it is, but it's definitely worth checking out for brunch or lunch (or at the very least, just check out the chocolate shop)!
We stopped here for lunch. Fun atmosphere above the chocolate shop, nice waitstaff. We tried the BLT and Potobello sandwiches, both on sour dough. They were very tasty. Highly recommend!
Donckers gets the job done. Good, solid food that'll fill your belly, and the upstairs diner’s got that old-school feel. Candy shop downstairs is a nice bonus if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Bit busy sometimes, but worth the wait. I stop in every time I’m in town for my daughter.

Stopped in to buy some chocolate. Staff was great. Chocolate was really good. We will have to stop back for breakfast or lunch the next time we’re in town.
Good spot for lunch
Turkey Ruben Sandwich yum
Bear paw was really good. The truffles were great but there wasn't much difference between the different flavors I got: tiramisu and Irish cream. They tasted great just both tasted the same.
Probably my go to restaurant for breakfast in Marquette. Pretty good food service is decent but definitely do not get the chai latte. They use a syrup instead of chai mix and it just taste like coffee and dish soap.
