I was skeptical when my breakfast burrito came out square, wrapped like a pillow, but I'll be damned if this wasn't one of the best breakfast burritos I've had - crispy hashbrowns, lots of eggs/sausage/cheese - simple, and delicious. A *touch* more salt and some complimentary salsa on the side would have put this over the top.

Great burrito, great Bacon-me crazy, great service. The staff was incredibly friendly. The owner gave us recommendations for our trip to Copper Harbor. The decorations were cool, And they had bottomless coffee. It can't get much better than that.

Java Bay is one of the best breakfast places in Marquette. Whenever we are in the area we love to stop in and get some great food and coffee. It's a friendly place and they are quick with getting your food out to you!

70 minutes for a breakfast burrito and an ham, egg, & cheese sandwich is INSANE. We came in on a Sunday morning around 930am, it seemed steadily busy but not packed (they were processing dine-in and takeout orders). We ordered at the counter for dine-in, service staff was nice but they gave absolutely no warning about how long the food would take to arrive. After waiting about 30 minutes, we thought it was taking a long time but figured it should be out soon. At 45 minutes, the cashier staff checked on other tables but not us, no update on our order. I tracked her down to ask for our order to-go, she quickly nodded and still no update. We waited another 25 minutes. When we finally got our food, one of the cooks rushed it out to us - I had been waiting in line to ask for a refund. It was almost 11 before we got our food and the food was not bad, not great - nothing worth waiting that long for..
I am completely understanding if a business is slammed or busy and food takes a long time, and I'm sure the cooks are working hard BUT you need to tell the customer when the wait is that extreme. We would have then had the choice to say we'll go somewhere else, or we would have explored the town and came back to pick it up considering we only had about an hour in Marquette.
All in all - do not go here unless you have a lot of extra time to wait. I wish I would've read the reviews before dining here.

Overall very good experience! We were a little hesitant to go here because we had heard the wait for food was very long, 40-60 minutes. We were pleasantly surprised to only wait 25. We felt the corned beef hash was especially delicious! So glad we got to stop in.
Kid-friendliness: No kid cups, and only one high chair available.

Biggest problem by far was the wait. For 10 dollars my burrito was pretty good, but my friend's food was very cold and none of it was worth 40 minutes of waiting. I was fine with the wait when the place was busy, but eventually the place cleared out and we were waiting for 30 minutes in an empty restaurant. I work in a kitchen, I could see that they only had 3 or 4 tickets hung up at the most while we were waiting. I see that the owners reply to some of these saying that the wait is because of takeout, but if the wait is constantly at least 30 minutes for dine-in then the place shouldn't be doing takeout, or they should at least manage it better. The staff was also very cold, the person at the register seemed annoyed the entire time and wouldn't really talk to us. I'm only listing that as a complaint because I've seen multiple other people citing the same thing.
Overall, extremely long wait and unwelcoming service. The place seemed like a cool spot to quick stop at before our drive back, but it only ended up keeping us from home for an hour. I spend less time at any sit-down restaurant than I did in there.

Although we had some delays with timing, the place is quaint and will fill you up. The food is well cooked and seasoned. The ordering system is also convenient as you can take your time before placing your request.

Ensure you ask what the wait time is before ordering here if waiting 50 minutes for your food is an issue for you.
No proactive communication from the staff (which is my main issue). Only two other tables waiting on food in the place and no to go orders that I could see. If there was an equipment issue or what not that’s totally understandable but leaving customers just in the dark for so long is really unacceptable.
The food was fairly decent but had we known we would have to wait so long we would have eaten elsewhere.

Went in during a road trip. Had to pay and tip up front. The person checking us out was very cold to us. Seemed annoyed we were there and the attitude was there the entire time we were there. We ended up waiting for at least 45 minutes. When we got there the restaurant was full, and when we finally got our food it was empty. Me and another friend got a bagel w cream cheese jalapeños and an egg, which were both cold. One friend got a burrito and it was warm, and the last friend got a sandwich which was piping hot. My boyfriend went to the register asking for a fork and knife not realizing there were some in our boxes (we asked for takeout thinking it wouldn’t take long and there were no seats in the restaurant when we first got there). The clerk didn’t say anything to him, just very coldly handed them to him. The wait would have been okay if A it was busy the entire time we were there B my food wasn’t cold and C if the cook and the clerk looked like they were doing their job and if the clerk didn’t have an attitude.
Wouldn’t recommend going here until the wait gets better.

The food was excellent and the service was friendly. The only disappointment, and it's partly on me for not checking better, but for a place named Java Bay, we expected more coffee options than just drip hot coffee.
