This is not your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. This is very authentic from southern Mexico. Lots of flavor and a great spice level. Portions are very large. Service was friendly and fast. No beer and I didn’t like the bagged tortilla chips. Tasted like donkey chips.

This is the worst restaurant I’ve ever ate at. Lots of locals inside, so they must like it. Chips were stale and overcooked, which could break a tooth. The queso was like velveeta but chunky, salsa was poor, and I didn’t know you could mess up nachos. They serve buttered tortillas, which are basically a stick of butter melted on tortillas. The sample platter you can order prior to ordering was enough to know it was not going to be good. The staff was very kind.

Usually I would give this place five stars because it is my favorite Mexican food of all time. But something was a little different this time with the gravy. Still good, just different. They said there is no written recipe, and a couple different people make it. Seemed like maybe they used a different pepper and not enough cumin. I'll try again. I've been a faithful customer of Oye Amigos and its founding restaurant, Emilio's, for over 50 years. I know the gravy. It's still the best Mexican food I've ever had, including in Mexico. 🌮

This is the old Emilio’s! You either love it or hate it! It’s heavy Deep South Mexican food. The tortillas in butter are to die for 🤤🤤 Gravy is hella spicy but soo good, portion sizes are huge! Go to items Taco, enchilada beef or cheese, Mexican pizza !!! Also they will give first timers a sample platter before ordering so you can see what you prefer.

Emilio would be proud. This place will not close until the year 2000.

Delicious! Definitely not your “typical” Mexican restaurant. If I hadn’t had people with me to tell me what to get, I probably wouldn’t have loved my meal (I’m not great at finding my favorite foods from the different Mexican restaurants these days lol) They allowed me to have a little sampler plate where I learned I loved the beans, rice, and chicken (usually I’m not a fan of Mexican rice and usually I love ground beef… I was thankful for the sampler plate to learn which things I liked best here!) The table is served with a whole bunch of delicious buttery corn tortillas. I ordered a small thing of beans, rice, and cheese, and just poured those into a buttery tortilla with some of their jalapeño sauce and it was delicious! I also ordered the chips and salsa and combined my salsa with the jalapeño sauce - delicious! My husband loved his enchilada with (super) spicy gravy on top! The spicy gravy was delicious but probably a bit too hot for me. Will definitely be our go-to Mexican place now!
