We ordered takeout and it was terrible. I lived in San Diego for 7 years, and there was nothing "California" about this burrito. It also had tomatoes on it, which I absolutely hate, plus soggy lettuce, which should never go inside of a hot burrito.We also ordered tamales, but they used smoked pork? Absolutely terrible. Then the topper,my wife got the chicken tacos and with her very first bite she got a piece of hair, gross!

Service was good . The food was tasteless. Very bland. No flavor at all. Beans rice salsa no flavor to beef in enchiladas . Cheese dip with chorizo was like water consistency. Wouldn't even stick to chips. Very disappointing meal. Not like the old Elvira restaurant. I'll stick to taco bell. SORRY YOU NEED THE FOOD TO TASTE MEXICAN.

The mini flautas were great, as well as their chicken fajitas and horchata!!! Better than Entre Amigos for sure! Their salsa was thin, with a mild spice and great on chips (although I would like it a little more spicy). No alcoholic drinks, but that's not necessarily a negative for me. Will be eating here again for sure!! Will also be recommending them to everyone :)

I found my meal at Midland's El Carretonero Mexican Restaurant to be bland. The Chili Poblanos were not well seasoned. The rice was bland. The server was helpful and kind.

Came here during lunch hour while visiting Midland for the week. Getting seating was quick and service was pretty fast as well. Starting with the chips and salsa, wasn't a big fan of either. The salsa tasted a bit off in my opinion and I have had much better elsewhere. Being from TX, my standards may be really high though.I ordered the steak fajitas. I was pretty disappointed in the meal because of the lack of meat. It was seriously more onions and bell peppers than steak and the rice/ beans/ salad side was very small. The steak itself was pretty rubbery and unseasoned in my opinion.Overall, probably won't visit here again, but if you're looking for pretty standard Mexican / TexMex food, this may be a good option for you.

Very friendly service however the food was very bland. You would expect some spices in Mexican food but all the items were missing flavor. The enchiladas sauce tasted more like tomato sauce than enchilada sauce and the ground meat had no flavor at all. Sorry but the food needs some spices

Sad and disappointing. This was amongst the most depressing Mexican cuisine I have ever had. The food was completely devoid of any flavor and was comprised of few ingredients. We got about .002 ounces of guacamole as a garnish which was flavorless and mostly onion, plus the refried beans we received was a thin layer of bland, tasteless goop on a plate with partially melted cheese, straight out of the microwave. I'm convinced they source their product from the Meijer frozen section. The service was adequate at best. The reviewers who described this place as "amazing" need to get out more and also get a dictionary.The dining room was excessively lit, which only illuminated the unappealing and beat-up decor, and that we were the only patrons there. They do not serve alcohol, so it was disappointing when we expected to be able to get Margaritas. To top it off, prices were high and completely unwarranted relative to the quality of the food. Will not return and do not recommend.
