This is a great place for special occasions and date night. Seating is large U shapes with the grill in the center. Larger parties will have their own grills while smaller parties might be seated together. We went at the beginning of January for my birthday, and due to staff shortages, they didn't have any appetizers or sushi. I was really looking forward to sushi and was disappointed when we were told after a 45 minute wait instead of when we called or first arrived. If that's important to you, ask before arrival. Their menu is very limited. They did do a great job of accommodating a food allergy and our waitress was phenomenal. You get a good portion of food and the cooks are fun to interact with. It's definitely fun for kids!

Genji, thank you for being so delicious!! I’m sad too see the “Genji” name go away. We love the homemade yum yum sauce, retro rolls and early bird dinners. We truly have celebrated so many milestones at this place! Homecomings, engagements, birthdays, new baby’s, you guys have been the place to go!My husband is in the Air Force and we have not yet found a place that matches quality and quantity from here to Albuquerque. Rumor has it, the yum yum sauce is staying the same and my family hope it does. If possible, you should share your yum yum recipe with the whole franchise when you transition ?

Lots of food, nice staff. I ordered my steak rare, it was more medium rare, but good. My wife thought her scallops were over done. The shrimp, fried rice and sushi were

What the heck happened to this once awesome restaurant. 2 take orders in a row with incorrect items and missing items. Tonight's order prompted this review. 4 sushi rolls 1 mayyyyy have been what we ordered. Everything was crab stick and cukes. No tuna and no avocado to be found. They gave us no soy sauce and the rice was super dry like these were made mid week. Just terrible. Loved having Genji close to home but with high prices and quality closer to gas station than restaurant they should shut her down til they get a renewed commitment to doing better.

The hibachi grill is the way to go here. The chefs are great at entertainment and make delicious food. The soups are good, the salad could be better though. Unfortunately when I was there last the fried rice was a bit overcooked but that has only happened to me once.

First time here. Pulling up to the restaurant I thought they were out of business. Weeds higher then my knees and a pond at the entrance that was not cared for all year. Grose. It really would not take much to clean up the landscaping, but I guess they don't care? The staff was friendly. The food is way over priced. After all its only rice, veggies and a little chicken, shrimp or steak. Taste is ok. I could do better making it at home. I guess you are paying for the entertainment of someone cooking in front of you?It was fun and we did enjoy the experience. But it's a once only visit type restaurant.

This was my first time visiting in 21 years. There were no other cars in the parking lot and we were afraid they weren't open, so we checked inside quick and decided to eat there when we found they were indeed ooen. Another party showed up at this time and was seated first. As there was only one server on staff at that time, we had to share the table or wait. We agreed to share the table.Staff was very friendly, but because they had a very tiny staff at that time, it took them longer to serve the soups and salads and bring any refills for drinks. The soup was ok, but the salad I ordered with the house ginger dressing was swimming in the dressing. It tasted good, but it was too much dressing for the amount of salad you get.The chef who cooked our food was very nice, friendly, and did perform a little bit. He did not perform to all the bells and whistles they did in the past when I was last there, though. We got a teeny bit of vegetables and a giant plate of fried rice. The steaks and seafood finished cooking first and my friends appeared to enjoy theirs. I don't really care for shrimp, but the small pieces the chef served everyone were ok. The chicken was finished last. It wasn't the tenderest or juiciest, but it was okay. The sherbet for dessert was nice.I know prices have gone up and I haven't been there in 21 years since I was 16, but it is crazy to see the cheapest thing on the menu went from $10.99 to $24.Quite honestly as it stands now, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant as is for the price point alone.

Always a great experience here at Genji's of Midland. The food was good and the service was friendly. The atmosphere is good and the show at the table is pretty cool with the flipping with the spatulas and flames.

Was very good. Chef was very nice and very good portion size. We all had enough to take some home. Granddaughters birthday they treated her special. Also Accommodated food allergies. Gluten and milk.

Absolutely worst service. Customer service is awful. Rice was crunchy when told about it. Manager says sorry.... but have a nice day very sarcastic. Can not wait for new owners and management. This place has really turned for the worse.

Food is perfect cooked perfectly taste amazing have been coming here since I've been a kid. The only disappointing part about my recent visit was they didn't have the green tea ice cream at the end not too sure if they don't sell it anymore or if they just ran out that's my only complaint. That was legit my favorite ice cream it's creamy smooth can't find that anywhere else so I'm a little disappointed in that. Bring back green tea ice cream and I'll give it five stars.

Wife loves this place but never been my favorite. To me the food is just ok and I've been to similar places where the cooking is more entertaining. Was very nice that they gave a birthday discount and dessert!!

Horrible! Don't come here! It's shameful! The sushi is prepared poorly, not authentic rice for nigiri, does not stay together, fish was size of a quarter on 2 pieces and then normal on others, wrong proportions, wrong everything like a kid was faking being a sushi chef. I was told afterward that they don't serve nigiri and that's why it was messed up. "Sorry" but they still served it and charged me! The manager (a 100% Karen) "Janette" does not care. "Sorry" that's all.... I asked Janette the manager if she looked at my sushi dish and did she see what was wrong with it she said "NO i didn't" AND Janette, the manager, is the person that brought it to me! ??? So the manager does not look at the food on a failed dish replacement? I just do T get it! Go to Maru or anywhere but Genji... plus the broken down ponds and waterfalls are a real ambiance killer! 0/5 avoid!

I ordered tofu and veggie hibachi as takeout. I got home to discover there was no tofu in the meal. Called the restaurant to let them know and the manager on duty (Wednesday at 430pm) said some of the tofu was expired and that's probably why they didn't use it. I will NEVER come here to eat again. What manager says that! Just say you ran out! Not that it could've been expired. Would've been nice if the idiots in the kitchen would've told the hostess so I would've known up front. Sucks I paid 22 dollars for a bunch of veggies and a scoop of rice. Couldn't have substituted anything? Terrible customer service.
