Katie was our amazing server! Fast, friendly, accurate and very attentive to my seafood allergy. Crazy to go to a sushi place with this allergy but it was my granddaughter’s choice for her 18th birthday. Everybody enjoyed their food-all freshly made and beautifully presented. Note that it is very loud there. Waited for at least 30 minutes for a table for 7. This was on a Thursday night.

My husband and I went for the first time tonight and the ONLY thing I wished would be different is if we didn’t go so I could experience going for the first time all over again!
Everything was delicious! We had 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 specialty rolls, and 2 desserts, and EVERYTHING was delicious!! I almost couldn’t believe how everything seemed to taste better than the last thing that came out and blew me away! We are from Memphis, TN and are used to very good food and since moving to Michigan have been scouring places that meet our standards.
Maru EXCEEDED all standards by every metric imaginable! The taste, the portions, the presentation…EVERYTHING was tasteful and magnificent!
And our waitress Kenzie was phenomenal, extremely knowledgeable about the menu and specials, very kind and sweet and extremely attentive!
I can’t wait to come back again!

The food was great, the service was great. My companion and I were sat at a table in a booth by the window that was dirty and full of food. The seat was not clean and the floor and space between the booth and window had old food. This is not acceptable for what I would consider an upscale-ish restaurant. Also they squeezed us in there so tight that you end up being part of the conversation with the table next to you whether you want to or not.

The chicken was a very low quality and it was all dark thigh meat. It used to be white meat, very disappointing and still paid white meat prices.

In the East End of Midland's downtown is this Maru sushi restaurant. Excellent menu with many options and friendly staff to help you. Cool vibe in a modern spacious building with high ceilings and nice lighting. I asked for gluten free options and waitress Keelie suggested a chef roll. She asked about my likes and dislikes and the roll that Chef Zack prepared was amazingly delicious. I asked for a spicy version and it was perfect... not too hot. My friend ordered Nigiri and was very happy as well. They also have a full stocked bar. We sat at a window table on this occasion but on a previous visit we dined at the bar and enjoyed a friendly discussion with the bartender. You will enjoy the food and be treated well here.
