Nice but smaller than I anticipated
It was a good experience but the price is at the higher end, $15 per head is too much. $8- ,$10 should be fine
The canopy walk is amazing but is almost a mile to get to. They have ripped out the amazing children’s playground next to the cafe where my kids would spend hours and are making it into a “grassy gathering area.” I’m guessing this is so they can make more money on events. I am so disappointed and my child was very upset the playground was gone. And the cafe was basically out of all the food. This place is not what it used to be.
Beautiful, clean peaceful place to relax and take in nature
Playground/cafe is down/closed
Beautiful place for a day walk
We love Dow Gardens and the Canopy walk! I live 50 minutes away, but have purchased a yearly pass for 3 of our family members. It is a great last-day-of-school trip with my children and recently, I brought family from out of state. They loved it so much! The gardens always have something blooming and in the spring the butterfly garden is my favorite.highly recommend seeing this all for yourself. (Make an online reservation when going to view the butterflies in the spring.)
Suggestion: if you have young kids, taking a wagon or stroller is best. The walkways are stroller/wagon friendly. We like to bring snacks or lunches along too. It’s a lot of walking.
Side note: as of August 2024, the playground in the whiting forest is closed. This does disappoint us as our children loved that playground when we went.
Absolutely Ridiculous for them To close the Playground down for no reasons. Thousands of kids loved that Playground and for you guys to take that from them is Beyond Unbelievable and Evil. I do not recommend Dow Garden at all.
I am beyond disappointed in the abrupt announcement that the park is permanently closed. It seems that they do not value their members at all.
Awesomeness

Absolutely amazing! Well worth the 3 hour drive for a day trip. Leisurely walk takes about 4-5hrs. Dow Gardens is 3.5 miles long, and White Forest and canopy walk is 2.5 miles long. There is a lot to see and do. The kids didn't want to leave the kids' playground or garden. Highly recommend seeing. Would love to go back again. If it were closer I'd go everyday. ❤️
Whiting Forest was an amazing place to visit. The canopy walk was incredible. We visited in mid June. It would be even more beautiful in spring with the gardens flowering or in the fall colors. The Dow Gardens cafe was expensive and the sandwiches were premade and wrapped in saran wrap. Beyond that everything else was incredible. The employee was welcoming, the restrooms were very clean, the grounds were immaculate.
Walking through the woods seeing animals and birds we don't have in NZ was great.
I hope DOW has cleaned up all the chemicals, but I doubt it.
Expensive but I can understand why. Immaculately kept grounds, beautiful scenery. Too bad we came so late in the day...could've spent HOURS enjoying the gorgeous sites!
