First of all the food, service from our server and the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately, the manager would not accommodate our group of 12 at one table despite calling a head. You can't make a group reservation for more than 6 people on line. The night before we reserved 3 tables to be sure to be able to get in. We called at 4pm when they opened and they said to secure a large table it would be $5/person. We we're going to the restaurant in about an hour so we said we would just ask for a group table on arrival. Well, the manager would not allow us to sit by each other. She placed us as far away as possible from each other, literally, and stated "They were going to do what was right for their restaurant and could not move the tables to be by each other". It's a shame that her attitude and inflexibility left such a bad taste in our mouths.

Went in with a work group of 7 without reservations. Got sat right away. Ordered drinks and appetizers. The calamari was excellent. People ordered various rolls and all of them were delicious - very impressive for Midwest sushi. ??
Did take a little while to get food and the nigiri didn’t come until everyone was done with their rolls. We weren’t in a rush so it wasn’t a problem. Would definitely go back the next time I’m in town.

Excellent service by Lindsay. Food was amazing. The michigan roll, lobster roll and ninja roll were all great. Will be back again!

I love coming here but unfortunately we came here 2 days ago. I got very very ill. I ate the salmon sashimi. I was the only one at the table that ate the salmon. The next day I couldn’t keep anything down at all. I had to go to urgent care to receive medication so I could stop vomiting. My husband also got sick. I loved coming here and I used to love sushi but this experience has made me feel as though I never want either again.

The staff was nice but it took well over an hour to get our food. I have been eating sushi for years from all over and absolutely love it, it’s probably my favorite food, but the rolls I got here were so bad I almost vomited. That has never happened to me before.
I tried dark side roll, rainbow roll and rock lobster roll. The dark side was the worst. The fish did not smell or taste fresh, it was VERY overly fishy smelling, super dry and the one that nearly made me throw up. I still paid and tipped but… never again. The rainbow roll is pretty classic and should be an easy one to get right but again, the ingredients seemed old and the flavors bland/poor.
The rolls were pretty but so so bad in comparison to what you pay for. It was expensive and I ended up eating one piece of each and throwing the rest away. I couldn’t stomach eating any more.

The sushi is great and their miso soup has this incredible spicy touch to it. A must visit.

Went here after hearing that this place is good. I’ve never waited over an hour for ywo rolls and sitting with empty water. This was a disappointing experience. I’ve never waited longer than 20 minutes at any sushi restaurant I’ve gone to. The quality of the sushi was a bit mushy once we got ours. For what we paid, this place is not worth it and I would not recommend it after this experience.

The staff is excellent, and the atmosphere is very enjoyable. However, when my 2 roommates and I went out to lunch here, two of us who ordered sushi got really sick (likely food poisoning). We suspect it might have been the rice because we ordered different rolls. It's disappointing because I really love sushi and Midori, but it's something to keep in mind when ordering from here

1. To sit at a table they demanded my name and phone number, for an open table.
2. Our waitress B'Elanna spoke to us with this fake mean girlies annoyed to be working tone.
3. We were excited for the NA cocktail menu, but was quickly shot down as the waitress told us they don't really carry those but can try to approximate. Got the blackberry nojito. It was OK but not 13 dollars good. (Update: they didn't charge us full price, thankfully for the drinks, charging $12 for the 2 which was fine.)
4. The sushi menu and specialty rolls left much to be desired. The lack of raw fish, and corresponding prices for phoned in pedestrian rolls was disapointing. Skipped ordering sushi. Better options elsewhere in town.
5. When they say small plates they mean it. The scallop starter was good. Salty without the apricot sauce. But it was 2 scallops. Left much to be desired.
6. Edamame was fine. Hard to mess up.
7. The atmosphere is VERY LOUD. We knew everyone's business. There is a lack of sound absorption from the brick walls. There are no wheelchair accessible low tops. ADA RED FLAG.
Overall, its fine. Its trying way to hard for something its not. It likes to turn it's nose up at other people, when its merely masquerading as a sushi lounge.
Mt. Pleasant deserves better.
Vegetarian options: Yes there is a large vegetarian menu. Lots of gluten free options. But I don't recommend this place to anyone.
Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options.
Parking: Typical downtown parking. Use one of the local free lots if you can't find street parking.
Kid-friendliness: This is not welcoming for kids.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible. And they will also treat you like crap. No low top tables at all.

Nice, quiet atmosphere. Saturday, early evening wasn't too busy. I would think that because there weren't a lot of patrons there that I would get my food exactly as ordered, which was basic. I ordered steak, the waitress asked me if I wanted medium rare...I said medium. I received well-done... not even close to what I ordered. When the waitress came to check on our table, I showed her that the steak was well- done and all she said was "oh, yea"... and continued making her rounds. I was a little taken aback by her careless reaction. If I had the time to wait, I definitely would've asked her to take it back. The plate looked good, just wasn't the way I ordered.
So... my advice is this is not the place to go when you're in a hurry. Steak wasn't great... probably because they cooked all the flavor out of it.
Shrimp appetizer was good. I guess I just expected this restaurant to have better quality.

Food was awesome. Drinks were great. The server named Lindsey waited on us. She’s probably the best server I’ve honestly ever had. Highly recommend!
