Fantastic fish! Highly recommend and worth the short drive to midway general store. Bring cash and an empty belly!!

Mobile kitchen - Ordered 1/2 pound portion of fried white fish and home made fries, enough for two. $20 Cash Only. Delicious! Drove 15 miles out of Munising to Midway General Store with nice picnic tables - Fish Basket parked outside. Well worth the trip! Expertly prepared, I have never had better.

Sam was a delight and so accommodating to my wife’s gluten allergy. All of his fried fish is GF. By the way, his location has moved to the Midway General Store. It is a 15 minute drive from the location posted in Google, but definitely worth it.

Absolutely superb experience at The Fish Basket food truck last Friday! I’d heard he could make gluten free fish and chips, and Sam confirmed it. All of it is gluten free, and he checked that his coleslaw and tartar sauce was dairy free as well, for me. We got a half pound to split between the two of us, and it was a 10/10! Hand cut fries, and crispy whitefish, (skin-on, zero fishy flavor), straight from Lake Superior. Piping hot, salt & pepper to perfection, fried right in front of you. Indoor and outdoor seating near the General store where he was parked.

Great gluten free fish and fries. Chef great and friendly. Food truck but at Midway Country Store - available seating indoors and outside. Store person is very friendly

Over two days, we tried 4 different whitefish fry's between Munising and Fairport! The unanimous decision of 4 voters, is that Handsome Sam put together the best. Others were pretty good also, but Sam's bite size pieces were well seasoned and not overcooked. Also, you order a plate by weight. I got a kick on how he calls them 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton plates. They are of coarse, .5 lbs and .34 lbs options.

This may very well be the best fried whitefish in the UP. We've tried many places and this place is top notch in food quality and taste! Located next to the Midway General Store which has great outdoor seating available to The Fish Basket Customers. We may even come back tomorrow for round two before we head home to the Lower Peninsula!

The best fish I have ever tasted. The fish is quite fresh, big portion, very good fried.
A must stop, if you are in the area you should stop and taste this delicious fish !!
Also there is a good store near, you can go inside and seat there to eat the fish !!

10/10, food was so delicious and fresh. Makes me really happy to find places where I can safely eat with celiac disease

BEST FRESH FISH EVER!!! Forget that it is gluten-free. So tender, lightly breaded and not greasy. Located more out of the way than directions indicate in front Midway General Store, but so worth it!!!
