Ryke's Bakery Catering & Cafe

I can’t believe I’m saying this, because I have been a lifelong Rykes fan. I have a 6 year old in tears over a birthday cake. I told the person on the phone that my son was having a Minecraft theme party. This was the cake they gave me. How is this cake supposed to be a Minecraft style decoration?!?!? Polka dots!?!? I’m currently trying to save this cake so he has what he wanted…I’m so disappointed and unhappy. I spent $36 on something that I didn’t even ask for!

We stopped here later in the day on our way home from a short trip. The staff is very kind and helpful. The donuts and pastries we purchased were great. If we are in the area again we will definitely stop. Thank you to all the staff and all the hard work they do to provide a great product and wonderful service.

I would have liked to have taken my business here but you people cant even answer the phone during regular business hours, let alone earlier in the day outside of peak hours.
The photos of the cakes looked great but im not going to fight to spend my money here.

Whatever you get it will be delicious 🤷🏻‍♀️! The place is packed with a line of people and multiple friendly people taking care of them, it's just that busy! That's what happens when its the world's best bakery....

My go to for the most delicious baked goods! (And I live in Grand Rapids. Looking forward to visiting the new GR location.)

I am always greeted with friendly & attentive service. Love the Death By Chocolate Cake. they have a large selection of freshly baked cookies, doughnuts and specialty treats.
The deli is really good too! love the pasta salad, bread and more!

Prices are reasonable and the quality of everything I have purchased there has been beyond my expectations!

Poor customer service, not consistent, employees not all knowledgeable of their job. I spoke with Gabe, Paula, Tara, and one other lady. Shirley was supposed to call me regarding my concern and it’s been over 48 hrs and I haven’t received a call. My next step will be the BBB. I even asked if the owner could contact me and I was informed he doesn’t talk to people we only see him once a month.

I will NEVER return or refer anyone to Rykes. I went to Costco and the customer service from Leigha, Erica, and Alyssa was great. I ordered a 10inch white round cake with vanilla cheesecake mousse filling. They don’t need a 4 day notice. Rykes stated they couldn’t process my order with a 3 day notice for a 8in round cake. Lol 😂 I ended up with a 10in with less of a notice and it was way cheaper. Rykes doesn’t have a policy stating it must be a 4 day notice and the staff was rude. Definitely lost my customer service!!!! I was informed the owner doesn’t talk to the customers and he only sees his staff once a month. Still waiting on Shirley to return my call.

Rykes specifically my baker Cassie did an AMAZING job on my birthday cake! I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite lions, Lorkulup, who was recently senselessly murdered by humans, and provided a picture of him. I can't stop raving about it. I've never done this but wanted to do it for my 40th. The cake is vanilla with Bavarian cream inside. It's so moist and yummy. The knife just glides right through it. I definitely recommend this place.

I don't get to Ryke's often, but they do a great job on cakes.

Recently called about a customized Pokémon gender reveal cake, lady on phone was nice(getting a star for that alone) but unhelpful saying they can only do the kits online which were all a general birthday themed Pokémon cakes. I was told can bring in my own eatable images. I am not the bakery I should not have to provide what I am looking for a professional to do. I was always told if you want good CUSTOM cake work to go to Ryke's, I do and I was told to basically do it myself then have them just slap it on. No thank you I'll go some place they will be able to provide the service I am asking for. Sorry guys you dropped the ball on this one. Pretty disappointed.

We drive an hour just to get our cakes from here. Amazing bakery. Quality of everything is beyond expectations. Nice people and service. Highly highly recommend.

Horrible services man with glasses was very rude act like he didn’t want to take my order when it was only me and one other person there went in back in stood there while someone decorated a cake when he could have been taking my too but wouldn’t

Absolutely AMAZING!!! I cannot say enough good things about this bakery. I used them for the first time for my gender reveal last week. Leading up to that, I tried their cupcakes to taste test and they were phenomenal. Their mint chocolate cupcake is hands down the best I've ever had - perfect balance and mint. And their lemon and orange cupcakes are equally amazing., Their customer service is also phenomenal - pregnancy brain led to some miscommunication on my part in making my order, and Ryke's was so accommodating and helpful in working with me to fix it. The gender reveal cake was absolutely perfect - decorations were gorgeous, cake was perfectly moist, and everyone raved about the flavor and how good it tasted. Will 100% be using them for future birthday parties and would recommend them to anyone and everyone needing a cake.

I love Ryke's. It used to be my morning stop when I lived in Muskegon now I go every time I come to town. Everything is delicious. You can never go wrong here. Super friendly as well.

Went today to buy some donuts and muffins. only to see flies all over the donuts and muffins?. very disappointed won’t be going back there so I know they fixed the problem?
