I appreciated the fact that there were gluten-free options. The food and the service were excellent. We were there on a very cool evening and placed by the window. We should have asked to be moved because it was too cold. We will do that next time and and will enjoy the experience better.

Planned to have a Thanksgiving dinner out this year. When we got there and were seated with cocktails, we went to the buffet for our dinner. Most items were gone, no turkey, mashed potatoes or gravy. What was left was not TG items and overcooked, not edible. We left hungry and unhappy with the service and experience.

Very different from 2024. Standard buffet food. not notable for me to return next year. So much was noteworthy in 2024 . This year was very mediocre. Carving stations had great staff.

Our server Maddie was so wonderful. She was so personable & friendly. The ambiance was incredible. We sat right by the window and watched the sunset over the lake. The po'boy sandwich was also delicious!

Great time and had wonderful service. Our waitress was spot on the entire visit. The venue is outstanding as we are boaters and love viewing the boats at the marina. Definitely one of our favorites!

The food was delicious though I felt the price was high. I had a 6oz filet mignon at $55. The service was excellent.

We made a reservation online not realizing that it does not include seating outside. When I asked the hostess about it, she didn't offer to sit us outside even though they had some available. My husband had to ask her specifically if we could be seated outside, which she did. Leaving the inside table, my husband asked if we should take our menus...she said "yes" and instead of taking them for us, she just let us carry them out. The server noticed that we did not have a wine list, so she asked the hostess to get us one...she did, but literally tossed it on our table and walked away. No reason for this...we were never rude! I think the hostess could use some additional training. After our not so pleasant start, we did have an excellent server, RaeLynn and the food was really good! Lastly, we mentioned on the reservation request that we were celebrating a birthday and no one even mentioned it.

Beautiful waterfront view! Everything was delicious. Blueberry martini was light and refreshing. Crab cakes, whitefish and walleye were superb!

Had date night here. We all had fish and seafood entrees, salmon, shrimp, prongs, and perch. All were excellent. We had a window table overlooking the marina. What a great view.

Horrible service even though it wasn’t busy and we had a reservation. Food was subpar especially for the prices. Much better options nearby to choose from which I’d recommend 100x before going back.

Indigestion shouldn’t be this expensive. And when you’re sitting right on the lake, staring at the water and the boats, it’s hard to pay $33 for a really sorry piece of fish.

Whitefish seemed like a good idea at the time. I thought it would be, ya know, recently caught, but it tasted more like it was found washed up on the beach. I would have sent it back, but the kitchen was closed by the time I tasted it. (That was another surprise: Turned out closing time was an hour earlier than the answering machine had told me when I phoned ahead.)

There were a handful of young staffers, who were very nice, but had no authority and obviously didn’t know what the good stuff was on the menu that night. My companion ordered sole, which was a special of the day though I don’t think it’s a local fish. It was only a little better.

With no manager on duty, there was no one to even complain to. We were starved, so we ate our bad meal, and I was a bit relieved when I didn’t get sick.

This was the last night of a weeklong trip along the shore. I had thought I’d splurge and show off the best of Muskegon cuisine. Turned out to be the worst meal of the week.

Shoulda gone to the Hearthstone.

We went to The Lake House for the first time with our best friends, for our wedding anniversaries. The setting is right on the lake, next to the marina, which is nice. My initial impressions were that the restaurant was clean, but felt a bit dated; like being ushered back in time to an 80s/90s movie, which my wife really liked. I felt like The menu was kind of small and the prices a bit high. Our food was very good, but our friends said the gnocchi had way too much sauce on it and the broccoli was overcooked. Our server, Bradley (I think) was phenomenal. We had the best time with him and he attended to our every need. He even hooked us up with free desserts for our anniversaries, which were amazing! We live about an hour away, so I don't think I'd ever drive that far again just to go there, but if you're in the area, it's worth checking out.

We decided last minute to try The Lake House for dinner tonight. We didn’t make a reservation, yet we were seated at a table outdoors almost immediately. Sharon was our waitress and she was phenomenal. She quickly greeted us and got our drinks. Within minutes of ordering I got an alert on my phone of an incoming storm. That’s on us for not checking the weather and asked for our order to go. Sharon went above and beyond and somehow managed to find us a table indoors! Food was delicious and Sharon continued to check on us. 10/10 Food and service!

I get the feeling that The Lake House in Muskegon was beautifully refurbished about 15 years ago, but since then it’s been left to fade. The menus are worn with scuffed leather, the trim is chipped and unpainted, and the place just feels generally neglected. Even the bar was cluttered, and the service area behind it had no door — leaving all of that mess in plain sight.

On the patio, there was no shade at all, which made it uncomfortable to sit outside. The small details stood out too: the staff’s nametags looked like they were printed on a label maker instead of being done professionally, which just added to the sense that the restaurant isn’t being cared for.

The food menu was limited and overpriced. For sandwiches, the only choices were a vegetarian sandwich, a fish sandwich, or two burgers — hardly the variety you’d expect at the price point. And the prices themselves felt unjustified given the overall experience.

It’s a shame, because this place clearly has a lot of potential. I can imagine it was wonderful years ago, but today it feels tired and neglected. Honestly, I hope the current owners consider selling to someone who will invest in it and bring it back to life, because the location deserves something great.
