The food was really good. We really enjoyed the Valentine's Day seven course experience deemed "DTF: Down to Feast" which we did with the recommended wine pairings . The desserts were beyond amazing. The crustless cheesecake was an absolute show stopper. I don't normally like tiramisu, but Strega takes the cake on that one. The staff was extremely accommodating. They were very kind, even though we were late for our reservation. Our dietary restrictions weren't an issue, and the staff work like a well oiled machine.Dietary restrictions: They made a separate Mahi-mahi without walnuts per my request.

The meal was delicious and the service was great at Strega Nonna! I really enjoyed my leisurely 4 course meal. My only complaint would be that it was a bit cool inside but space heaters were running so it probably got warmer later. I will definitely eat at Strega Nonna again!Vegetarian options: The wait staff and cook modified my meal to meet my dietary preferences without complaint.Dietary restrictions: I eat a gluten-free diet that was not guaranteed to be completely without contamination of gluten but met my expectations.

I’m not so sure about the name, meaning grandmother witch, but the people and food are among the best in the midwest. The owners are onsite, and they care. The food is marvelous and thoughtful. The live music is soft and does not interfere with conversation. This is the best restaurant north of Chicago. Order the menu of the day with pairings, and enjoy the next three hours as some of the best you will have….

I'm told that the best Thank You notes are not written the next day. That's what this feels like, for we had an amazing experience for our 29th (!!) wedding anniversary. We knew a bit about the restaurant beforehand (I stopped in over the summer to buy a gift certificate), but this was our first time dining. We've had family style dinner before and, honestly, we're very open-minded eaters. We didn't even read a menu and let the staff take care of us. It turns out that we were in very good hands.The service is very attentive and friendly. We joked with our server as we learned about the menu and asked questions. It was a perfect mix of information and 'let us show you more.' The restaurant itself is sizeable with a few areas perfect for larger groups. We were seated at a high top, which felt a bit like the cat-bird seat. We were able to see everything and people watch without being rude or obtrusive. Seeing how others reacted to the food - and getting a preview before ours arrived - was fun and informative at the same time.The tricky part of this recap is the fact that the menu is very fluid. I can tell you how amazing the antipasto was - the memory of the caper berries still makes my mouth water - but your plate may arrive with completely different items. The adventure is trying things that either you've never had before or not in this preparation. Simply put, I recommend the prix fixe family dinner. Let yourself be guided by the food and try everything in front of you.That said, we learned that the kitchen makes their favorites on Saturday nights, so you might have a chance to enjoy the silky gnocchi or the sublime orecchiette. Since Strega Nonna offers kitchen courses, I am keeping an eye on the schedule in hopes of recreating something that we enjoyed or learning something completely new to me.The music was very enjoyable and did not impede conversation. It was the perfect backdrop for our food adventure, allowing us to chat about the restaurant and food or simply enjoy the tastes while listening.Thank you to everyone at Strega Nonna that made our anniversary so special. We're thrilled to have you in Negaunee and look forward to taking more 'tours' with your food and fun!

BELLISSIMA! ? Overall vibe is eclectic and romantic. Very unique atmosphere, which is lends a LOT of character to the experience. Recommended wine was incredible. Pasta? Incredible. Chicken? Incredible. Beef? Also incredible. Tiramisu??? My favorite one, hands down, ever.This is clearly reminiscent of actual Italian food in the country itself. It is absolutely an authentic culinary experience.The service was friendly, enthusiastic and genuine. It’s great to eat somewhere that involved parties are passionate about, proud of, and invested in.I wish I could eat here daily. It’s not cheap, but absolutely fair prices for the quality and quantity.So excited to have Strega here. Absolute gem. Do not miss!! Also a great children’s book!
