I was soooo blessed to be able to return to this loong-time family fav. I returned to MI from FL for a marriage ! My family has been enjoying LaCantina since the early 1960s ... when to m 8-yr old eyes the stern Emo (?) guarded the cash register; yet the food was soo exotic I was enamored by the exotic spices, especially something called Fennel - NOT what my mom a Betty Crocker fan would use... I recalled then, and now, always caring warm alert service....Recently dinned there ! QUALITY just the same as I remember.. and the 'romantic' view of the 'falls' and the outside mostly vine covered outdoor dinning..... I bought 6 bottles of its almost-famous wine vinegar !! (Hope it figures out a way to sell this wholesale !!) ' Gawd ' how I hope (pray?) the 4th generation keeps GOOD traditions, and CARINGNESS alive!!

I would give a 5 star but for management screaming at their waitress Kelly. She did a great job. We will ask for her section every time we go. Food was great. Next time I hear a manager talk to their staff like that, I will make a scene.

Good food and service. It was very busy when we were there, so I took a long time to be served. Pizzas were taking 50 minutes, so we didn't get one, but all our food was good with generous portions. Lots of pasta dishes available, plus some other entrees and yummy appetizers. The atmosphere is dated, but works for an Italian restaurant. The dining room was very loud, but we were still able to hold a conversation.

We had a group of 8 and everything was great. The waiter (Aiden) did a fantastic job. We had the lasagna and the walleye and both were excellent. Will definitely be back. Wishing Aiden the best in his future endeavors.

As really the only upscale restaurant in the area it can get pretty busy and sometimes they have weird hours. There is no kids menu and in recent years the menu has become pretty limited but food is still pretty good and much of the waitstaff has been there for years. My husband's company has been having their Christmas party here for many years and we always enjoy ourselves. Food can sometimes be a little zesty for my taste. One star down for lack of kids menu or portions.
