Excellent ice cream spot in Plainwell. Tasty homemade ice cream and friendly staff, only a minor quibble is a lack of outdoor seating but Plainwell is very walkable and you can find places.

Plainwell’s chocolate ice cream tastes great, but the ingredients were a surprise. I expected something simple and traditional, but it’s full of additives — corn syrup, mono & diglycerides, polysorbate 80, carrageenan, artificial flavors, and dyes like Red #40 and Blue #1.
Honestly, it reminded me of McDonald’s soft serve more than a local, small-batch product. It still tastes better, but the ingredient list feels more industrial than it should.
Great flavor, but not as clean or old-fashioned as it seems.
I’ve been to many ice cream shops in my life and to this day I drive two hours one way once (maybe twice if I’m lucky 😂) a month to grab a couple gallons to go. They are basically family ran and the best customer service you’ll find. I’ve yet to have a flavor that I didn’t enjoy, they make it all in house as well. Just a must try and absolutely worth any drive!

Truly the best ice cream I have ever had! I live in Wisconsin now and my family was able to pack it in dry ice and haul it all the way here for me! They do not have ice cream like this anywhere else. Highly recommend. Cotton candy is the best flavor but they’re all good! 👍🏼
