This place is disgusting and the man who made our iced latte was beyond rude, it was uncomfortable. We cut our order short because of it. Everything is cluttered and covered in dust and there’s cleaning products out in the open. I’d never set foot in there again and quite frankly they should not be serving food or beverages there.

Coffee is absolutely terrible and the person serving it is even worse. Hostile and sarcastic (without even being funny at least), talking down to people while he serves dirt in a cup for coffee. Stay far away from this place

We have been coming here on our vacations for many years and while the pastries are just Costco (which is fine but nothing special), the coffee is always excellent. The service is a bit slow but the owner is friendly and will tell you everything you need to know about the area if you ask. There is a laundry in the building so you can wash your clothes, drink your coffee, and use the wifi all in one place, which is GREAT if you are at the state park and in need of all 3 things!

Nice local place, good coffee and selection of bakery while doing laundry. Cozy homelike place, nice owner with very friendly dog Whiskey. Only one thing that I would suggest to improve is to clean place thoroughly.

Wanted to leave a good review because the owner is nice, but I find myself unable to do so. Place was very messy and disorganized, clutter everywhere. Wasn't exactly very clean. Vanilla latte wasn't great either. Not sure how it passes health inspection.

Ok, here’s the thing. It’s not Starbucks. It’s not like any other coffee shop you’ve ever been to. It doesn’t have the booths, nor the organized retail space. The bathroom doesn’t have stalls and yes you have to move a wheeled laundry bin out of the way to access it. The pastries are from Sam’s Club. There’s magazines and boxes strewn about.
BUT…. it’s a GEM. It’s a hole in the wall, eclectic neighborhood coffee shop. The locals meet most mornings and talk about friends, community updates, ya know, local stuff. I worked at the GCB for 1 week while vacationing with my family and here’s what I came to believe: Whiskey (ala Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) is the sweetest boy and loves Brussels sprouts. Dean is a know-it-all in the very best sense of the word. He’s huffy, whip smart and quick to point out your failings. But he means no harm. He’s a vet, he was a police officer, he’s doing the best he knows how and I think very honorably. The coffee I had beat anything I’ve drank anywhere else. Dean is an expert at coffee drinks, all kinds. Did I look close at the sink and the cooler? NO! It’s not my business. IYKYK.
It’s not the end of the world if the counter is cluttered and YouTube is on the TV. Was this liberal from metro Detroit taken aback by the very conservative talk the old men had every morning? Yes! but this is the stuff NYT writes about when they interview diners in the Midwest. It’s real, it’s honest and from their life experience. Who am I to judge? I also heard funny, heart warming stories like the one about their friend who took a nap in his tomato garden and lost his phone. I heard them console each other over a friends illness and check in on each other. When the whole towns Wi-Fi went out and people poured in from their rentals, Dean let us get on his personal account. You ain’t getting that from Starbucks. I did laundry while working remote in a beautiful city and my clothes came out clean. I had several amazing coffee drinks, and a muffin for breakfast every day. I had the cutest dog lay at my feet for hours. I got to listen to old men say some of the darnedest things. It was an experience! See for yourself.

We’ve been visiting the Green Clean Bean nearly every summer since 2017 and used to love it. I even left a 5-star review years ago when it was clean, cozy, and welcoming.

Unfortunately, since the ownership changed, it’s really gone downhill. This year the place was cluttered, dirty, and felt more like a messy living room than a laundromat. I didn’t feel comfortable trying the coffee, and with a dog on the furniture (adorable, but my family has allergies), it just wasn’t a good experience.

When a washer wasn’t working, I looked up other options, but the owner insisted his was the only clean place around. Sadly, I can’t agree—and I don’t think we’ll be back.

I’ve been coming to this coffee shop/laundromat for the past four years whenever I’m in Port Austin. The coffee has always been mediocre, but it’s been the only place around with decent Wi-Fi and laundry machines. Unfortunately, my most recent visit will be my last.

After starting several loads of laundry (paid in cash only—no cards accepted), I stepped out briefly with my kids. We returned about 15–20 minutes after the wash cycles ended, only to be met by the owner, who informed me he had already moved some of my laundry and was charging me $6.50 for the service—which I was willing to pay. However, he also demanded an additional $10 for “lost business,” claiming he had to turn customers away, despite having moved my laundry so his machines were available.

When I explained that I only had $12 in coins left and offered them to cover the charge, he refused and publicly told me not to come back—right in front of other customers. He lectured me about paying arbitrary fees and insisted it was my “responsibility as a young man.” There are no signs posted anywhere about wait times, switching fees, or penalties for unattended laundry.

On top of that, the place is unclean and cluttered. Boxes are stacked everywhere, most tables in the café area are covered with stuff, several machines are broken or unreliable, and the so-called accessible restroom is blocked by old coffee equipment.

This place is unprofessional, poorly maintained, and run by someone who treats customers with hostility instead of understanding. I will not be returning, and I’d recommend others think twice before supporting this business.

Good coffee and a very kind owner. Don't be startled of the dog on entry. It's a very kind service dog that likes to be petted.

I enjoyed interacting with Dean and Whiskey. The coffee was one of the good options available in the area. Owner had lot of wonderful stories to share, absolutely gem of a person, caring a lot about the community. Whiskey was such a good furry boy. Made my day.

Delicious coffee.

Dean and Whiskey are the best! My husband and I were in town for a long weekend 10/2024 and visited them each morning for coffee, pets, and good conversation. Makes the town feel like home and the coffee is great
