Tried a mix of dishes and it was a flavorful experience — mostly! The sambar was perfectly tangy and comforting, the noodles had a great spice balance, and the carrot halwa was the real star warm, rich, and just the right amount of sweet.
But on the other hand, the chicken tandoori fell flat — no depth of flavor, not even the usual smokiness. coconut rice was surprisingly bland. What really confused me was the color — I think they first had lemon rice in the bowl and then added coconut rice on top, because the so-called coconut rice came out yellow.
My family loves this place! The staff are always so kind to us and often bring complementary mini mango lassis in paper cups to the table for my kiddos. The food is so yummy. Also I am gluten free and I’ve never had a problem here. Love you Hillside!
Amazingly, good Indian food!
This place always changes management. It used to be one of the best Indian cuisines in Kalamazoo, but now it's the worst. Today I tried the buffet and immediately regretted it. The food is not hot, not even a bit spicy, and taste-wise it's horrible. I will never go to this place again; I'd rather go to another Indian restaurant in that area. This place has to close.
We LOVE the weekend buffet!
This was my second time getting food from Hillside. I ordered takeout. From the brief time I spent there they had my food ready to go and were kind.
I would definitely go back again, I got the lamb & peas and it was delicious. The right amount of spice for me. I got mild.
It's fun and probably the best Indian food in the kzoo area.
I used to eat here back when I was in college a LONG time ago. The service is wonderful, as I remember. However, the flavors have become a little shallower. It's just lacking a certain richness I remember. But I lack the ability to know what is missing. I had the khorma which is literally always used to get and cannot speak to another dish. It was still a great meal! And my fiancé had the fire Masala Dosa which she said is the best she has ever had. They have a lot of online and carry out orders, so it would have been nice to be further from the door. Otherwise all around great place to eat.

Food is always delicious. The customer service is amazing. Once, I ordered food here and got a devastating phone call while in the mist of ordering/ receiving my order the owner walked me to a booth. Sat me down. Brought me a cold water along and was being so comforting. Made me feel like family. This is a wonderful environment. Good food. 5 stars from me!!!!

I have only ever gotten take-out from here but the food is always 10/10! My favorite is the butter chicken with garlic naan and samosas. Always seasoned so well and so tasty. The best Indian food around! Highly recommended
