Delicious. Super friendly when we went to pick up some frozen Scottish treats. Wish they had a restaurant area to try some of their delights but it's just a warehouse to ship.

We order from their website often and they have fast shipping! The baked goods are simply amazing. I recommend the Empire Cookies!

Ackroyd's has the best shortbread I have ever tasted. While they no longer have a store front you can order their products on line. I have also found their shortbread at Westborn Market.

So sad. Had been my favorite place to go for a ride for so many years. Well, over 50 years so knew the places well. The first one was in Detroit and I went with my father on the weekends. I even recall a apple pie setting on top of the meat case an price was 50 cents. Look at what they are now charging for stuff. My favorite things there has been changed at least 4 times and now taste like garbage. Black Pudding. I was raised on it and the flavor and spices were so so good. If we did not go early they were always sold out unless you called an place order for it. Today it is not what anyone wants any more an was changed a couple times at least and lacks the flavor and sure now worth my time any more to go there. If they ever get with a decent price and make my Black Pudding like they use to than I shall be the first one back...until than I must say BYE BYE.

Food better be amazing because customer services has left a lot to be desired. When I called I stated I was a first time guest and needed a few questions answered. The man was very short w/me, huffed and acted exasperated. When we decided I should pick up vs shipping no one mentioned the building was almost indiscernible, with no address and no sign. When I called to confirm location, again my questions were responded to by someone who seemed bothered I was asking. Corrected me on the difference between a truck door and a truck well then said the reason they didn’t have a sign is because they were expensive. I, too am a small business owner in the area, but would never bite the hand that feeds me, and speak to somebody who has an inquiring mind the same way I was spoken to. And yes, you do have control over the photos that Google posts for you. You just have to take the time to do it as I have done. Like I said, I hope the food is worth it.

I'm an ex-pat of 37 years and I am constantly shopping around for the best deals on British food. I have bought black pudding, bacon and sausages from other online stores before but always have to buy way more than I need to meet their minimums for shipping and their thermal packaging has left something to be desired. I found Ackroyd's via a web-search and the prices were extremely good and they offered free shipping over $99. I only had to order 1 pack of bacon more than I originally wanted to get the free shipping (you can always use more bacon, right?!). Anyway - once I had pressed "order" I thought - I didn't see an option for thermal packaging - but I assumed it must be included.... Anyway - jump forward about week when UPS rang my doorbell with the package. Talk about over-engineering! Dry Ice, thermal packaging, 5 ice-blocks, all sealed in a very thick plastic bag. All the food I had ordered was still frozen and went right into my freezer. Ackroyd's attention to detail and their desire to ship quality products safely and frozen is not to be overlooked. The actual products are exceptional and very tasty. I have found my new go to place for British butcher and baker products!

Well, they used to have this awesome batch bread. We were hoping to go again, and fortunately checked recent reviews. Sounds like they are not doing well, and the owner's comments to the reviews are discouraging in the extreme, defensive and blaming the customers. We'll look elsewhere.

This was very Disappointing they haven't been open to the public for 4 years. It's just order online and pick it up in a parking lot. So all of these photos must have been before they shutdown to the public. The website is very deceiving.

I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the meat pies with their mystery hockey puck of meat.My family has been shopping this store since the 1950s and have always had excellent food. The last 2 shopping trips have had great results on the sausages, but the meat pies have been atrocious.I will continue shopping as I have found no better replacements, but I will no longer be ordering the meat pies and that makes me so sad. Please return to the former glory of having the pies filled with loose meat and not the horrid hockey puck of weirdly frozen flavor.

I order food from Ackroyd's once or twice a year when I'm craving a meat pie or a pork pie. They have moved locations and there's no longer an option to go inside, but thankfully they brought back the curbside pick up option. The food is pretty good, and you can tell it's good quality. It's not cheap, but it is pretty labor intensive from what they've shown online. Certainly give it a try. And no, I've not tried the haggis. The black pudding was far enough of a limb for me to go out on.

The meat pies and chicken pies were exactly as described in recent reviews...very dry and short on flavor. Adding 2 teaspoons of water to the meat pie did nothing for it. I see now that the owner's responses to negative reviews is to lash out at the reviewer aka the customer. Not a good strategy. Try getting the quality of these pies inproved to something that more closely resembles the real Scottish version. Apparently the bakery used to sell better pies, so concentrate your anger in that direction instead. Scotland is about 3500 miles from Reford and that's how far Ackroyd's pies are from the real thing.
