Listen, let me help you out here. 1. The food is awesome. Not in the “I spent a semester in Beijing and this is super authentic” kind of way, but in the best American style Chinese food you have ever had kind of way. Egg rolls and rangoons are fire, sweet and sour chicken best in the business, have had 8-10 different things, no misses. Order it spicy, though, I’m a heat wimp and it isn’t too much. 2. Don’t eat at the restaurant. Covid changed this restaurant to a to-go restaurant, probably for the better. They don’t care about the dining room anymore, and neither should you. Grab your meal and skidaddle. 3. The world is more expensive, stop listening to these people complaining. A single McDonald’s hash brown is $2.50, and one order of something here is enough for two meals. The price is the price. 4. Pay with cash, the lady at the front will love you for it.
We stopped by on our way thru town. We expected a buffet style meal like the one near our home. The food was subpar. The restaurant was sweltering hot. The bathroom was scary. We ended up leaving 5 min after receiving our food because it was too hot inside to eat comfortably. It was 80° outside and still cooler than inside the restaurant. In my opinion, they need an overhaul and possibly new owners.

I gave them one last try with 5 little spring rolls and 6 crab rangoons and it was $16. Flavorless and even more than menu stated. So disappointing considering we don’t have a lot of options for take out on Sundays in Rockford.👎🏼

I moved to Michigan 5 years ago from NY and have struggled to find a Chinese food place that wasn't catered to the bland Midwest pallete. I found it here! The food is incredibly flavorful, the meat is so tender and very good quality. The vegetables taste fresh, and they give you good portions. The customer service is great, both people we spoke with were very friendly and kind. The only thing that was disappointing, is that it they used to have a buffet that they no longer run due to cost. Which is totally understandable. I just wish we could have visited when the resteraunt was in full swing. Regardless, absolutely worth the drive from grand rapids, we will definitely be return customers!

Finally found our fave local Chinese restaurant! Food was great, we got sesame chicken and husband got beef, chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce and it was sooo good. I would highly recommend. Don't be deceived by it's looks, it is delicious and a great price. We are big eaters and we still came home with two full boxes of food after we ate, enough for lunch tomorrow...if it makes it until then!
I wrote this review a year ago and it's still my fave Chinese food. I wanted to add that we got the steamed dumplings today and we had them while watching kung fu panda. It was such a fun movie night idea, and the dumplings are her new fave! They have a sweet ginger soy dipping sauce that's sooo good!

This building is located in the corner of a shopping strip and is unassuming. China 1 has been here since I can remember and it has only changed for the better as time has gone by. Everything I have eaten from the menu is phenomenal without a doubt! A must for casual dinners and foodies alike!
