Quaint, old school Rockford classic. We stop here if we’re driving through Rockford. Favorite place to stop and warm up with some coffee or a bite.

Terrible and overrated. Maybe we just came on a bad day but the food wasn't very good. The setup is very disorganized and the staff was very rude. Seems like a place that has been in business a long time, takes care of their regulars and to hell with new customers.

Great coffee, grab a cup or get some beans to take home. The fudge is excellent and so are the chocolates. The begal sandwiches are an inexpensive option for a quick lunch. Lots of loose leaf teas to choose from too.

Great coffee to go or purchase a bag of beans to take home. Loose leaf teas . Fresh bagels baked in house. Really great customer service.

Absolutely love this local gem. The coffee is roasted to perfection, the bagels are delicious, as are the bagel dogs, and I recently discovered I like tea so I'm excited to check that out as well. When I was most recently in to place a Christmas order, Floyd, the original owner, was in the store helping people where needed. He asked if I knew what I wanted, and while I did, I took the opportunity to ask him what his favorite coffee was. I grabbed a pound while I was there, and I can't wait to try it!

Clean organized, Floyd the owner (Herman's Boy)stopped by my dad and I's table. He was really nice and gave us a history lesson on coffee and his biz how it's been around for 125 years. A definite memorable first time visit for me. The cinnamon roll was gooey and warm(perfect) pricing was right $1.75 a cinnamon roll. Loved that they served the roll on an actual plate. Thanks again

Herman's Boy can't be beat for coffee, bagels, and sweet treats. Their prices are lower than any other place around (even grocery stores), yet their quality is second to none. They have a large seating area that is very comfortable, and their staff is always friendly.

When I called to place an order the man on the phone was honestly very rude. He acted like doing a mail order was not something he did often (then when I asked later he said he does it 20 times per day). He asked me if I wanted drip, perk, or french press and when I was confused he was so rude and pretentious. I called him out for being rude and told him to cancel my order and he was argumentative and said he wasn’t being rude rather than just acknowledging my frustrations or being even remotely apologetic. He also refused to tell me a price for the coffee but stated an invoice would be in the box. For someone who does this 20 times a day you’d think you’d have a good estimate? When I then further prodded he told me the price per pound and an estimate for the shipping. Was that so hard? I seriously am sitting here with tears in my eyes feeling like a moron and that’s how I started my day. Yes, you business owners and employees do have influence and the way you treat customers does matter. This is why coffee gets a bad name. Be kinder!

Great place to sit down, have some coffee and catch up with old friends. Many specialty teas and coffee to buy and take home. Comfy atmosphere.

the food and coffee is so good but the ordering system is actually awful and confusing for newcomers. i would come here more often if they just had a more efficient way to order. the line wouldn’t be so long if they just had people order, then pay, then wait at some counter for their order with a name or something. there’s no reason to have this very slow and confusing system.
