the food and coffee is so good but the ordering system is actually awful and confusing for newcomers. i would come here more often if they just had a more efficient way to order. the line wouldn’t be so long if they just had people order, then pay, then wait at some counter for their order with a name or something. there’s no reason to have this very slow and confusing system.

Food is OK. Ordered a bagel, lightly toasted, and it was burnt. Our breakfast wraps were overloaded with ham with very little egg. The staff, including the owners, are never very friendly. The system in place for preparing food is outdated and inefficient. You wait in line to order for a long time and then the person taking your order moves to preparing the order. You pay upfront and they ask for a tip before receiving service. Every time we go we say it is the last time and hopefully we heed our decision. Too bad as it is the atmosphere is great. Only stop in if you have an hour to wait!

Some of the best specialty coffee around. My house always has a few bags at any given time. Update from my original review. Herman's Boy is still consistent and a staple for my household. Don't skip on coming here. Update 2: still an amazing place. They are consistent and quality has never changed. I have been coming here since 2017.

We walked to Herman's Boy tonight. We sat outside & ate shredded barbecue pork (bagel) sandwiches. DELICIOUS !!!!! Absolutely the best pork around.

Best bagel sandwich- they make their own bagels and sauerkraut and smoke their meat (I had turkey pastrami) Truly the best I've had. Highly recommend.
I bought a cold brew and a cinnamon roll. The coffee was great and so was the service. There is outside seating which is very nice. The cinnamon roll I purchased, however, was very stale. They looked better than they actually were. Disappointing. I'd come back for coffee again though!

Great little establishment that has history behind it and the moment you walk inside you will know that this place is history everywhere you look.
They have everything from dozens upon dozens of different coffees, to meats, to fresh-made fudge, and chocolate treats; to other kinds of desserts. There is a full menu where you can order a meal and sit down in one of many numerous little quaint hide-a-ways in the place that are cozy and quiet for a perfect one-on-one meal.
The staff are beyond friendly, professional, super helpful, and will go out of their way to make your experience at Herman's Boy an enjoyable one.
I for one have been there many times because of the treats and the service....plus the fudge (don't tell my wife 🤫).

Reminds me of somewhere my grandparents would frequent, not necessarily in a bad way tho. Gives off very small town general store vibes? But the bagel sandwiches are delish they load those boys with cream cheese if that's what you're in to. They have you order then pay when you're food is ready which is weird but I'm sure they have their reasons.
