Awesome brunch spot! This is everything Rockford needed — and MORE. Highly recommend the Home Fry Hash; the braised short rib and chipotle aioli were unbelievably delicious. If you're looking for something lighter, the Fire Toast really lives up to its name — flavorful, fresh, and totally satisfying. Will be back soon!

MudPenny has made a reputation for itself of not only being delicious but also being a VIBE of an atmosphere. The new MudPenny Rockford location is hands-down my FAVORITE location yet. I don't even live in Rockford but I drive the 20 minutes out of my way to soak in the viiiiiibes. I love that the menu is a bit different from the other locations. The creativity of the chef never ceases to amaze me. Do yourself a solid and order the salmon cakes.....NOW. That's quite literally what I'm doing right now, and life just feels better. :) The staff is all SUPER sweet and personable. The barista, Cam, is my personal fave. <3 He's so funny and outgoing and he brings such a positive energy to the space. MudPenny is such a beautiful addition to Rockford.

The “linguini” was buttered spaghetti noodles with no vegetables, herbs, or meat. There was no “bernaise sauce with saffron” with the steak. No sauce, and when I pointed it out, the waitress seemed confused and went back to the kitchen and I got a plastic to go cup of what looked like kewpie mayo. We paid and walked out without eating. The disconnect between the prices and menu descriptions and what you get is absurd. Honestly the most pathetic food I have ever been served at a restaurant. Truly awful.

We were so excited to see this was opening in Rockford. Unfortunately that excitement turned into disappointment. While we know this is opening week, being out of your popular menus items (and many of them) at only 5:45 pm on a Saturday night should be embarrassing. In an opening week, I’d expect to have a wait or slow service, but not being out of two appetizers and at least two or more entrees. With two other locations, I would think that forecasting would be a little more accurate when you are trying to make an impression in a new community. That said, we ordered the burrata and subbed the bread for a different type which came burnt and unsliced. Seeing the poor presentation I was a little nervous for what was to come. We ordered the gnocchi as a second choice and the halibut. The gnocchi came dry without the vinaigrette. Honestly it was terrible even after asking for the dressing and I sent at least a quarter to a half back after forcing myself to eat some of it to try not to be hungry. I left hungry and went to Pump House. The halibut for $35 was such a small portion we were baffled. Our bill came to $108 with our son’s plain cheeseburger and fries included in that cost. We enjoy a variety of restaurants Lucy’s, Little Bird, Social Misfits, the Old Mill, Grill One Eleven, Wealthy Street, and the list goes on. I say this to show that we love to dine out at fantastic local restaurants. These places are all exceptional. As a family who will pay whatever we need for amazing food and a night out I would never pay this again for an incredibly subpar experience. All of this to say we won’t be back and I’m not sure how this is going to thrive in Rockford if this is how it starts out.

We had a very enjoyable time! We tried the halibut and branzino for dinner and the shrimp appetizer — everything was delicious.
The cherries jubilee dessert, however, was not our favorite. Portions are on the smaller side, but the entrées make up for it in flavor.

Our server, David, was outstanding, and the manager, Spencer, stopped by multiple times and was very engaging. We’ll definitely be back!

Went to the Rockford location on opening day and it was great! Paige was our server and super helpful in helping us choose drinks and food. We live 2 blocks away and are super happy about having this dining option downtown!
