Always consistent food, great pizza. Prime rib, perch and mushroom soup a favorite, good customer service!

Good atmosphere (bowling alley)Above average service ?Food was great the first time (steak)and the second time it was kinda meh the "famous pizza" was a little better than a hot and ready from Little Ceasars(mainly the crust) honestly 3.5 stars on foodTo improve this pizza I would use a better or more flavorful cheese use some garlic butter as a finish on the crust edge and fresher ingredients bacon should not be hard on the pizza crispy but not hard.

Service/server was excellent. The atmosphere is fine. There are 2 seating options. "up front" which is open to the bar and attached bowling alley and slightly noisier or in the back dining room which is a bit quieter. Lots of menu selections available. We went on a Friday night specifically for their fish dinner. First time here after owner change (had eaten here many times before). Arrived shortly before 6 and were seated by 6. Disappointed this time around, ordered the 2 pc battered cod. Taste was good, portion size was lacking, pretty much oversize fish sticks (approximately 1.5" square pieces by 5" long). I understand the nature of "variety in product size" but, the other portions at our table were larger. There should be a conscious effort to provide similar weight to serving size if there is such a size discrepancy (1 larger piece and 1 smaller or 3 smaller even if it was a 2 pc order) Coleslaw was lacking seasoning, basically mayo on cabbage but portion size was spot on. My house salad was delicious, fresh and crisp! Rolls and cherry butter were amazing!! I also will note that you can choose from many different sides. Will return and give them another go.

The nachos are very good with the tri-color chips and plenty of toppings for all of the chips. French onion soup is excellent, not salty and properly baked. The breadsticks are nothing special. The bowling lanes were open on Sunday afternoon.

Things seem to have changed at Fred's with the new owners. The service and atmosphere are still the best but ..... The food is just not the same...... Still worth going, just know it's not the same.

Came into town to our cottage and decided to go to Fred's for dinner. Walked in and were directed to a table where we sat for approximately eight minutes without being addressed or acknowledged. Server was at another table next to ours and could have simply said "I'll be with you shortly, or perhaps one of the other staff members that walked by, could have atleast brought water. It was NOT busy. We got up to go sit at the bar, since there were two bartenders standing there. We told them we were sitting at the bar because we had been at the table for close to 10 minutes and nobody had come to us. The waitress that was supposed to wait on us, walked by and said "they haven't been waiting 10 minutes". At that point we just stood up and left. We have frequented Fred's many times since we bought our place up here and have never experienced this kind of attitude. I spent 24 years in the business and would have lost many jobs if I spoke to any customers that way. Very sad...

Fred’s was a great “up north” stop. I was on my way to a weekend retreat at Higgins Lake and met a team member here for a planning lunch. The waitstaff went above and beyond to make this a wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal and very generous portions! I highly recommend their homemade chips!

Had a small birthday get-together for bowling and food last weekend. The good was good, you must try the Hungarian cream of mushrrom soup, if you go. The waitress was as great as she could be. They were very busy and she was working the bowling counter and doing all the food and drinks in the bowling alley, so she was super busy which delayed service. I would go back otherwise.

Love this place? have been coming here for years. Staff is great and food is wonderful.Only negative thing is they close much too early on the weekends. We drive up from downstate and sometimes don’t get up there til 7:00 or 8:00 on Friday nights and unfortunately they close at 9:00.? need to stay open till at least 10:00 or 11:00 like they used to!
