The Curly Horse American Bistro at Double JJ Resort is the perfect mix of rustic charm and great food. The Western-themed setting, with its cozy fireplace inside and a deck overlooking the resort, makes it easy to relax and enjoy yourself. The food is just as impressive: steaks and prime rib cooked to perfection, pecan-crusted walleye that’s spot on, and hearty sandwiches that never disappoint. Pair the welcoming atmosphere with generous portions and friendly service, and you’ve got one of Rothbury’s best dining spots.

I've stopped into Curly Horse for lunch every time I come to Double JJ water park. The restaurant is beautiful, with incredible vaulted ceilings with giant wooden beams and the biggest windows I've seen looking out with an amazing view of their golf course and the woods beyond. The food was quite good and my waitress was very sweet and attentive.

No hostess for 4-5 min then came and offered to sit a couple and their child then proceeded to clear a dirty table even though there were clean tables? Never acknowledged us at all. Then a waitress came over and said they were so backed up and I looked at my husband said yeah we’re getting out of here. I have a bad feeling. So we were very disappointed.

Good place to eat. Upscale dining experience overlooking the golf course. I saw the turkey and deer out on the golf course while eating. Food was cooked to perfection. There are lots of good menu choices. Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful space. Service was subpar; girl has an attitude the entire time.. Charged for full glasses of wine and poured half a glass in these six ounce glasses (pics included) - ordered chicken picante that was SWIMMING IN SAUCE. Others around me all got larger glasses with the proper pour. Too bad I bartended for 20+ yrs and worked in the industry. 🙄
Husband had burger - very good!

This was our first time dining here, though we've visited several times before for the water park, mini golf, and snow tubing. Overall, the food was pretty solid.
I had the steak sandwich (ordered medium-rare). Flavor was good, but a few pieces were a bit tough and slipped out of the sandwich. Would’ve liked the steak to be a little more tender for easier bites. That said, I’d still consider ordering it again.
My wife tried the shrimp pasta. It was nothing you’d slap your mama about. My son had the chicken Alfredo—unfortunately, the chicken was on the dry side and didn’t really get eaten. Probably wouldn’t order that again.
On a brighter note, the spinach dip was phenomenal—definitely the standout. Highly recommend grabbing that as a starter.
The staff was very friendly and did a great job.

The food is good and the service has been nice, but recently the management has decided that they will turn customers away during electric forest. The issue I have here is that they couldn't be bothered to post a notice on their website, their Facebook page, or on the double JJs(the resort on which this establishment is based) Instagram page. I suspect I will not be returning.

The food was amazing when it was Sundance Grill however now it’s horrible
Everything about this place was great. It's a little bit in the middle of nowhere. But it has a very nice menu, the prices are reasonable, our waitress was very good. We are going to look at having a golf outing there.
Went for Easter at 12:30. They didn't have a single egg in the buffet nor could you order a custom omelet. It was not a Easter brunch like they have had in the past, has gone greatly down hill. Our family plans on skipping going here next year. The food selections was terrible. 5 things of food, it use to be 8 maybe 9. At least the deserts were good.
Was 5 starts under the old ownership of Sundance Saloon & Steakhouse. Now called Curly Horse American Bistro and with new ownership it's a 1 star, at least for the buffet part.
We live close to JJ so we are there often. The resort is beautiful and unique! The Curly Horse provides patrons with awesome views coupled with fast friendly service and great food at reasonable prices! Love it!!
I had to beg them for water because they were withholding me from satisfying my thirst
