Best cafe in Royal Oak
Food was still good but unfortunately the waitstaff was under-educated about the menu and then there’s now a standard 20% gratuity automatically added on. That’s my go-to tip amount so normally it’s not that big a deal except the bill comes out with options to add 18/20/25%. If you’re not careful you’re adding it in. That’s a bit slimy and definitely reduced the experience factor. Sorry but I probably won’t come back.
Sunday brunch, 3 different workers waited on us only when we waived at them, only 2/3 full of people, food was good, surprised how the bill asked in BOLD TYPE for tipping options only to find out later they automatically add 20% anyway (not in BOLD TYPE). Good luck with that. There are plenty of other restaurants with equal food and better service and management.
Not great. Drink wise they have good options and the coffee was good. The food was very lacking, though. They advertise high end ingredients in their menu, and with a lineup of local mushrooms, boursin cheese, truffle oil, and steak (all at high costs, $15-17 for a small breakfast) you expect a good presentation. Realistically, the cheaper ingredients like the eggs and the potatoes overtake the plate. The steak is extremely thin, and there are only very tiny pieces on top. The mushrooms are not scrambled in, they are cooked to mush and then plopped on top. The cheese was undetectable. We will probably not come back with so many other options in the area.
They are so incredibly disorganized. Gave me the wrong order, forgot to bring my soup. I took one bite and realized it wasn’t the prime rib sandwich. The brought back the same thing again wrong and stating that they didn’t charge me for the first sandwich that I didn’t eat. Greg the owner should learn customer service. I used to love this place. Left hungry, irritated and will never return.
Excellent food, great service. I had the stuffed French toast with bacon and marscapone, Mrs. had the smoked salmon and eggs with havarti cheese.
The food was great, especially those blueberry pancakes. I loved the atmosphere but they’ve room for improvement when it comes to service.
I went in with my family and not one of us finished our food . I don’t think anyone of us finished half of it. Even my cousin who eats like an animal and orders 3 plates of food didn’t finish anything. The steak and eggs were bloody awful. They force a 20 percent tip on you which is fine I guess but they also leave you space to add a tip in case you aren’t paying attention . I think my sister recommended this place and I will have a stern talking with her. I told my family , let’s go to ihop and they were looked at me like , hey we’re New Yorkers we don’t do stuff like that. They should’ve listened to me .

Went here with my husband and I was underwhelmed. The steak and eggs were fine, but the lemon ricotta pancakes were overdone and not very good. Additionally they were soggy because they put the syrup on them at some point before bringing them out and were almost inedible by the time we ate them. We brought this up to the waitress who told us well that's what we've always done it, next time order the syrup on the side. Definitely will not be a next time for us...

Too expensive for what you get. Don't mind smaller portions if flavor is great or average food if portions are good. This is not a lot of food and not a lot of flavor.

They were understaffed and the service was very poor. They were rude and rushed us to order. I wonder if it has to do with the automatic 20% gratuity. Food was still good

Breakfast is one of the harder meals for me to find places to go to eat. The quality at some restaurants of their breakfast isn’t that great, but this place is amazing. The quality of the food is amazing and I got my food 3-6 minutes after ordering. This place is a hidden gem! The views of the Outdoor seating are amazing. I recommend the dish Smoked Salmon Scramble with Guyere cheese and chives. I will definitely be back here.

Glad I stopped in after noon, or I'd imagine the place would be packed. I got seated quickly, food was ready in minutes, and absolutely wonderful. I've never in my life had such a fluffy waffle! I got the vanilla bean waffle with fruit and whipped cream, and bacon. And an orange juice mimosa. Everything was fantastic and I was in and out in under 30 minutes! Absolutely love this place!

Hang your heads in shame to the owners who left their staff on Sunday with 1 waitress for 20 tables. You should apologize to all your staff for Sunday.

The worst chicken salad sandwich! The toast was good. But where were the walnuts, cranberries etc. All you get at restaurants these days is bread and French fries.
