This place is my first choice place. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. everytime I want to go to a decent lunchon, this restaurant comes right away to my mind. excellent and many types of food and a rich menu.professional staff members, and good spirit. Also important, the charge is affordable. I suggest this restaurant with no doubt.

We did German potato pancakes and French crepes and we were not disappointed. Good food, good folks, good coffee. Nice little brunch spot tucked away in the North end of the Main drag (close to 11).

Super friendly service at this cozy eatery serving German brunch fare. We enjoyed the Breakfast Schnitzel with fried egg and bechamel sauce served on hearty toast and potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce- something different from the typical traditional breakfast. Coffee could be improved, but overall, a lovely experience. Thank you!

Essen on Main was phenomenal! I tried a few different menu items. From the schnitzel and jägersauce to something as simple as french fries, I loved the quality taste of each one. I didn't know that French onion soup could taste so good, or that a sauce could taste so richly of mushrooms. Chef Brian really strives to maintain a traditional German style in many of his dishes, and was trained in Germany, which is also really cool. This place is DEFINITELY worth bringing some friends to try, and then coming back for more... ?

Love the decor, the food and service. They really made extra effort to make my mom feel special on her birthday. Got a booth my favorite but expecting there to be lines to get in here soon. Schnitzel with egg for meal was delicious and done just right! We will go back for strudel and their delicious handcrafted coffee.

Excellent German and French cuisine. We had the Flammekuchen as appetizer and I had the Schnitzel with the creamy mushroom sauce. Latte was awesome, you could taste really good coffee and there wasn't too much milk to overpower coffee. I'll go back to try more of the dishes.

Finally made it in here before they closed for the day, open until 4pm today. I do like the classical music playing in the background, so soothing and calming for a daytime meal. It's the same interior and decor as the shawarma place before this place came in. Our waitress was friendly enough and patient as I piecemealed my entire food order. The owner or manager was super nice, offering me more hot water for my tea. Started with a mint tea, have to steep it myself. Ordered a croissant sandwich but with grilled chicken instead of ham, Greek salad and a la carte order of the potato pancake, comes with one with both the Apple and sour cream and a farmer's breakfast. Their raspberry vinaigrette is made in house here. A mangoschorle sounded good, only apfel available for now. I used to drink mangoschorle all of the time when I lived in Koeln for years around all of the cafes, it's quite refreshing. The croissant chicken sandwich and potato pancake came out first, along with the German farmer's breakfast skillet. Then the Greek salad. The currywurst came out a bit later, since we ordered it last minute. The Greek salad was okay, lettuce was finely chopped up, yellow peppers were surprisingly spicy. Light on the feta, no beets in their version and the dressing doesn't taste like any Greek dressing I have ever had before. Salad was average. The croissant looked homemade, it was soft and fresh too. The chicken was nicely grilled, just a bit of pepper. It's a plain croissant sandwich, not bad. The German farmer's was okay, not a ton of flavor to it. The currywurst was so-so, sauce is red, extremely salty, so much so that it was hard to taste the virus in the sauce. The potato pancake was deflated and super thin, could barely taste the potato and wasn't a hearty potato pancake at all. It's quite drafty by the window. I would have ventured to try their apfelstrudel, but it's from a vendor and didn't have the room. They do put it in the oven at least. They still have the great oven from the middle eastern restaurant before that was used to make their fresh pita pockets. The rest of the food I had was all okay but didn't make me want to try anything else from here.

An absolutely wonderful dining experience with wonderful food and outstanding service! John and Jodie (hope I'm spelling that correctly) were phenomenal. Jodie had an excellent recommendation with the wienerschnitzel topped with mushroom sauce. The serving size was very hearty and the taste worthy of Munich itself. I look forward to my next visit and next time I hope to try the crepes.

Had a great meal at Essen. The croque madame is made with a thick cut ham and a perfectly cooked egg on top. My husband had the farmers breakfast and thought it was tasty and a hearty breakfast. Service was cheerful and prompt. We will return.

This place is great!!! The service was fantastic. This is a charming place with delicious food. I ordered the farmers breakfast which was an egg skillet with potatoes, leeks and bacon. The flavors were robust and lively. The coffee is mild and delicious, not bitter like some of the chain coffee places. We will definitely be returning.
