Some sad news that Hermann passed away and the bakery is closed. What a class act, it was the perfect bakery that felt like you were in a small town. The best doughnuts, bread, and cookies in Michigan. And though Hermann is gone, the memories, smells, and tastes will linger.

My family has been regulars at Hermann's for 3 generations. Every time I go in it is like going back to my childhood. With all of the changes in royal oak over the years it is refreshing to have a place that stands by their product and stays true. Don't change a thing! I hope my children can keep up the Hermann's tradition as well! If you haven't tried it you should. This place is truly the gem of royal oak.

Day before yesterday I saw a piece of news on WXYZ Ch. 7, about a wonderful bakery in Royal Oak named “Hermann's Bakeryâ€. So yesterday I thought I should check it out! It's on Main St. between 3rd street and 4th St. I purchased a rye bread, and a bag of onion rolls. Oh man they are so delicious I can't stop making sandwiches. Lady said Fridays are best day to come in. Going in tomorrow to pick up a Challah I ordered! If you like sweets like cookies, cakes, and donuts, this is the place to go get em! Everything is made from scratch right there in the bakery. It's been there since early 1900's. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Kenny.

I went in to buy some pastries for my grandmother and myself (I happen to be vegan) I asked if they had anything that was vegan. The woman behind the counter was very rude to me for even asking if they offered anything. Saying that we are a real bakery and that we will not offer anything. Didn't buy anything because I will not support a business with customer service like that. Would not suggest anyone go there Astoria is across the street and has helpful polite employees.

1st and last time i went there! They told me they are the best bakery in town but weren't able to answer me questions about the pastries they sell. people were waiting while one saleswoman served me and the other talked to their customers about private stuff. I was in a hurry and took the bag they gave me just to find out that 4 cake pieces were missing but i paid it and you can kill someone with the sesame buns when you hit them on the head. you are the best bakery from the bottom of the list.
