I’m not big on complaining about local businesses because I understand that mistakes happen, but certain mistakes you simply cannot make. While leading a group of around 12 Cyclists on our Wednesday Night Ride Detroit, I decided to bring the group to Elephant & Co. for some food and drinks before finishing our last 10 miles. I didn’t want to overly fill myself, so I ordered some chicken tenders off of the CHILDREN’s menu. When I got my food and took my first bite, I could tell that something was off. I looked at the other piece of chicken I just bit off, only to discover it was raw on the inside (not under cooked but RAW). When I told the waiter, he took the food and then came back about 10 minutes later saying “don’t worry, I comped it for you” as if he was doimg me a favor😳. It’s clear that the staff has not been educated to the dangers of raw meat and particularly chicken. I’m sharing this for several reasons: 1. These people are literally risking the health of their clientele. 2. Frying chicken is the easiest thing that you can do food wise outside of pouring cereal. If they can’t do that right only God knows what else they’re doing back there. 3. This is a brewery that needs to be up to code simply to operate. If this is how lax they are on their food… who’s to say what’s in their beer? 4. This was off the Children’s menu!!! Thank God they didmt serve this to somebody’s kid who didmt have the wisdom to check before consuming. On top of potentially killing people or making them ill, their cavalier attitude towards the situation calls for alarm. There was no offer to make it right. There was no explanation for why it happened. It was just business as usual. Oh, and we were on the only 12 people in there out of a place that sits roughly 70-100. I can’t even give them the excuse that they were busy. Do with this information what you may, but please spread the word and keep this community safe because they clearly don’t care.
Do you want raw chicken tenders? Look now further, as this is the place to get them. Do you want food prepared by people who have no experience with food because the owners aren't willingly to pay more than the bare minimum so the only people who apply there are the absolute bottom of the barrel? This is is the place for you. Do you want management that is so inept that they can't train their employees how to use a thermometer or at the very least cut into a fat piece of chicken to see if it's throughly cooked? If so then eat here.
Yummy pizza! Their Detroit style pizza is very good, nice crust with tasty sauce. The beer selection is good. This is a self service location where you pay by the ounce and serve yourself. Its nice to have options and taste a wide variety. But you do all the work so it doesn't seem right that they ask for a tip at the end.

Good beers and nice atmosphere! That said, the beer is way over priced.

The management here is a terrible place to work for.
They do not pay their staff a livable wage the taproom manager gets shared tips from all staff.
$16 dollars an hour.
Managers make $20 and then get tips from the staff that works there.
The kitchen is absolutely disgusting.
In the summer months flies get into the open garage doors and are in the kitchen.
The flies are around the beer and get killed with zapping boxes.
Kitchen staff is over worked and can never have anything fully stocked.
Terrible toxic management, revolving door of staff and managers.
They made $500,000 in revenue last year and are attempting to sell.
But yet they can’t afford to pay their staff?? lol
The lines don’t get cleaned regularly and I just found out they got in trouble with the city for dumping beer mash into the sewar system.
Shame, shame, shame.
Do not support this scam of a company.

If you’re looking for refreshing air conditioned place to go after roasting at the zoo… don’t go here. We spent a majority of the day at the zoo in 90 degree heat. We were looking forward to a refreshing beer, food and nice atmosphere. However, it was 87 degrees inside. The food was good, the beer was good, but it was way too hot. Also, the bathroom sink was auto touch and the temp was scolding hot. We visited this location mid day on a Sunday, there was no one there. No kidding.

Food was great, love the concept of pouring your own beer. But it was 87 degrees inside on a warm summer day. We expected a comfortable atmosphere. Sounds like it’s been this way all summer.

Pizza was good. I hated the way they make you get your own beer and use those bracelettes. Plus I barely drank anything and my bracelet said I drank too much..you pay by the oz poired and most of it was just me trying to find ine i coukd actually drink...most of the beer is super crafty and tastes like shit Was more frustrated then I've ever been before just trying to grab a beer with some buddies.

This place is awesome. Really good pizza and a HUGE selection of beer on tap. The only downside for some might be ordering online. You do not order with a person, but it's straight forward and they still bring your food to you. Highly recommend. The outdoor area allows dogs which is a bonus.
